There are special lessons on that but only for the more advanced!

by Penny on 14 October 2010 - 12:10

They were taught lots of things doppeldanger, werent you there to see and support?    Mo

by Doppelganger on 14 October 2010 - 13:10

No Mo, I was supporting a breed judge at an Open Show, for which I had travelled over 100 miles.  Sadly not many others do.  I do however run a ringcraft class where we teach junior handlers the correct way to show their dogs.

As the instructor for the three age groups in the handling classes I can assure anyone reading these post that Double Handling was not mentioned at any time. Do I agree with double handling YES I have no problem with it , should it be apart of the instruction to the Juniors NO as there is no need to include it. These youngsters did an excellent job on the day which covered many aspects of training not just handling. I would welcome any positive suggestions to encourage more Juniors to turn up at these events from both  groups albeit English or German type enthusiast so we can all enjoy the Breed and have more fantastic days together. Once again if any of the Juniors come onto the Data Base, well done to you all.

This was a fantastic event, the juniors were taught handling/judging/agility/obedience and tracking. A lot of people gave up their time to encourage the young enthusiasts of the future, Alyson and I went and spent all day in a field teaching the juniors about tracking and I judged the handling competition at the end. More people are needed to support these events, indeed we travelled 3 1/2 hours each way and I know John and Gill (2 other instructors) travelled even further from deepest Cornwall, Sarah the agility instructor travelled up from Devon. Double handling was not mentioned at any time, the handling classes were only one part of the training and I know for a fact that the youngsters had a  fantastic day and were all, without exception really eager to learn new things.
Well done to all the juniors, to all the many helpers and instructors, I agree with Len, we should hold several of these events every year.

Taken from WIKIPEDIA:- a doppelgänger is a tangible double of a living person that typically represents evil.

So Doppleganger why not let the good side come out for once??

And only 100 miles to cheer on a friend??

We did a round trip of 572 miles to go to the Rally to take our Granddaughter perhaps instead of holding your friends hand you came and cheered on these Youngsters and offered some training skills, you might not be so bitter

So many assumptions.  Not bitter at all, and certainly not a friend of the judge, had not even heard of them.  And doppelganger because as  usual so many on here make assumptions that people are someone else.  I made the point because I can recall a show where in the junior handling class one child was constantly raising an arm to signal to the outside attractors when to call the dog. The fact that some of those present felt the need to state it was not mentioned says it all.

Sorry Doppelganger, I apologise.

There I said it, it just that when someone comes on a Thread like this, that was singing praise for the effort put in by the future Handlers and possible Breeders of our Breed and for the effort put in by the Orginisers and Parents, etc, and finds it neccesary to have their little dig just to remind people that they are still bitter.
Just annoyed me so much I just had to say something

So to suggest that you are an evil twin was wrong, just someone who can see no good in anything or anybody, as you seem to keep wanting to prove

Len

No more posts on this thread by me, I`ve had my say in praise and do not wish this to become another slanging match.

I agree, I don't think this of all threads should degenerate.

I have no doubt of the integrity of the training at this event, and it should be applauded, and I think it great that working elements were also included. Sounds as though it was a really interesting day for the young handlers, giving them a well rounded experience. I wish there had been this type of thing around when I was a a youngster, especially the working and fun elements of tracking and agility.

Great stuff.
