I agree with the not asking the TD before hand. I'm doing helper work on a few dogs that would've been cast aside if seen as pups:-) They are developing into very nice confident dogs...with very nice drives.

I agree whole heartedly with hexe and Gustav: the club TD who is not open minded and only biased about certain lines will screw your dog up to prove his prejudice.

I have been talking and emailing with the club president various pedigrees I have been looking at  I was going to get one which he had previous working experience with the offspring of the sire but when I got there the 12 week old puppies in the ad turned out to be 8 month old puppies.  Even after talking to them and confirming the ageWas from a breeder in Texas.  I passed.  I had found the dog on my own.  With kids I wanted to get a puppy that will grow up around my kids and boundries with them and with an 8 month old you never know what they have been exposed to (in my opinion)

Just so I can compare training for members puppies (6 months and under) is 10 bucks each week and non members 15 bucks each.  After 6 months it is 20 for non members and 15 for members.  Memberships are $75 a quarter.  1st session to include evaluation of the dog is free.  Does this sound about right to you guys?

troopscott, I'll leave the commenting on the club's fee schedule to others, as it's been far too long since I belonged to a club to know what the going rates are now.

I just wanted to ask you to share pictures of your pup with us here when you bring him/her home, since we managed to make this into a two-page thread with all the discussion of the pedigree of the litter.  I have to admit that I'm intrigued with the breeding, after spending so much time looking @ the pedigree and filling in what missing info I could obtain--if I were considering getting a puppy at this time, I think I'd roll the dice with this litter and look into getting one myself.  Since one of my two dogs has decided that there shall be no other dogs living here, even as visitors, for more than 48 hours, however, a puppy is not on my horizon any time soon.  :(

troopscott;
The fees seem reasonable enough, as long as there
is some experience in the club to get you and your
pup where you want to go!

I agree with hexe, post some pics of the pup you end
up with

I picked Elsa up from the breeder. Still working on the more formal name for the akc registration. The TD and other members all liked her and her. During obedience they evaluated her and said she showed great drive. Later on when it was our turn during protection work they took her back out on te field and worked with a rag. She again showed great drive. She had good tug/pull with it and they were impressed with her bite and when she didn't bite right she would self correct and take it to the back of her mouth. I am still here at training when I get home I will post some pictures of her. The TD made it a point to tell me he was impressed and she was a great puppy for this sport.

I was a little confused by some of the comments as I don't see any holes, and the pedigree looks nice. :)

Glad your TD liked your pup!   All the best with her!
