I whish that judges would just let the dogs stand naturally........the whole stacking thing is, well, its a bit extreme.....The GSD is the only breed that I know of that does this type of stack, and the whole squatting down with head up is so unnatural..

Xeph, I thought to count your dog as a wierd weged like beast until I saw the third photo........its really rather pleaent to look at.

How can anyone tell what a dog really looks like when its trained to look like the above photos?

Proper stacking of a dog IS to give the judge the best view of angles and ratios in the dog's conformation. It is not something handlers made up to do with their dogs.  Stacking is what is prescribed to allow judges to view the dog best.  Of course, one can overstack or understack and not give a clear picture.

In AKC, it is not uncommon for judges to ask the dogs to freestack.  All of my GSDs are taught to free bait...it can give them an edge in competition.

It's dark and she looks terrible here, but you can see that my girl is not teribly extreme.  Please pardon the foot placement of her front, it was rushed :p

This gaiting photo would lend a person to think she is ridiculously extreme:

Aaaaallll about perspective...
