Would just like to add that we have 'dropped in' on several schh trials in Germany (uninvited) and were made most welcome and the standard of the dogs and judging was very good, one was a pure showline club with all showline dogs, not all passed and several were worked by children but the standard was good.

John Ward,What you say is correct if you have a dog 70 70 80 on a sch test, its a border line case of passing.

What a shame UK working quailifications are not accepted the same as Sch.

There is nothing more satisfying than breeding and training your own dog for Working Trials.  I know how time consuming it is to train and the amount of acres needed for the tracking BUT to go to a trial and get the qualification is very worthwhile.  There is nothing like the one to one relationship you get with your dog and the love and trust you get back in return.    Many many years ago I went on a training weekend taster for possible SchH training, although at the time it was interesting, I found the tracking to be somewhat strange... being the same pattern for each stage, and so slooooow.  When I mentioned this to the instructor he said "Oh yes, I have known dogs to do the track with its head in the air, because he is so used to the pattern he does not need to track.  Then we were shown a video,  showing just that.!!!  All F.H dogs!!!!
Before anyone jumps in, I do not have any problems with SchH.   But when you are faced with a starting pole for a track thats 3 hours old and anything up to 30+ legs ( different directions) for half a mile, and twenty minutes to come back with three articles. NOW thats what I call a tracking qualification. Sorry if I am going OFF on one . Please dont beat me up for it, just trying to make a point.  And by the way I did not breed from "working lines" but show lines, goes to prove you can have a good looking dog that works.....................I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYONE FOR MY DOGS QUALIFICATIONS, HE EARNED EVERYONE OF THEM.     SO, MO YOU GO AND ENJOY YOUR DOG AND THE TRAINING BE IT SCHH OR W/T AND WHEN YOU GET THE QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BE THE PROUDEST OWNER OF A WONDERFUL WORKING SHOW DOG. GO GIRL GO.

Thanks Blitzburg,

Mum and I have been laughing only this morning at how everyone still contacts her if they want to tell me something! I guess that's what comes of being in the show scene from a very young age and having a well known Mum!

Just wanted to point out that you can qualify your dog over here - some clubs are now appointing sv judges from Germany and some UK judges now have sv (foreign judge) status so progress is being made. There are also some Koerungs being run although it is difficult to get enough entrants for them.

Good post Member. I guess it is my competitive edge that gets me irritated by dogs with dodgy titles but I do appreciate that there are many dogs with valid titles too and they have varying degrees of ability - that is to be expected and I don't have a problem with dogs that "just pass" (my dog may well end up falling into thay category and I would still be proud of our acheivement) - I just hate it when people cheat!

I have no problem with dogs be it SL or WL working with valid titles and as i have stated be it high or lower end of the points system, But i do have a problem with people cheating but a bigger problem with the owners of the dogs being cheated out of valid titles and good money,
Good luck to all that train for titles, be proud of what ever level of score you get when you pass, at least you have gotten out and are doing it, by this you will find which lines do produce the dogs to improve the working ability of the shepherd
At the end of the day that is what Max wanted for the GSD to remain a working dog
