So from what I can gather - a pattern sable is a dog that is a b/t with a saddle that is kinda mutted in the sable coloring?

If I am wrong - please correct me...  I would like somebody to put together pictures in one post - that demonstrates the different color patterns with actual pictures..  anybody got them?

I currently have two sables.  They are both just sables, there is no official difference in color.  One is more of a red or grey sable and the other is a dark or black sable.  Rookie was mentioned earlier so I thought I would post some pictures.   The top pictures are Rookie,  the bottom pictures are Centra..  In my opinion a true black sable should have a solid black strip of hair from shoulder to tail down their back.  Rookies hair down the middle of his back is not tipped, it is all black.

This is Centra

Here is my sable girl...I always called her a Black Sable, but after seeing how dark some of the other dogs that hav ebeen shown here, I'm not so sure!  Maybe she is a standard sable, not a black.  Her mother is black and her father is sable.

OMG. THEY ARE JUST 'SABLE.' Anything you add in front of that word is merely a descriptive! There are not "dark black sables" and "muted sables" and the like- there are just sables with very dark pigment to sables with very poor pigment.

I didn't know the "combtooth" feature was noteworthy either. I guess I have one "dark red black combtooth sable with penciling". Funny; I just call him "sable" and so do his registration papers.
