I'm not even sure what to say....

Dogs of misc colors, misc body types etc....
Again...this was the "beginning stages" of the GSD creation...where the mixtures of specific breeds were still in the first several generations.
BUT....over 100 yrs have come and gone of pure bred breeding's.....the "chance" of those "beginning traits" have long since been buried.....of course, unless....a "mixture" is introduced again, with the same characteristics. (ie..Dutchie or another same type breed)
This is why I believe...only by true genetic DNA profiling...can the possibility be proven factual.

as they say here in the mountains "I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night"
I'm really not into breeder bashing either, so I am trying hard to come up with just the right words to describe what a POS I think this breeder is, that won't sound like bashing.
I'll have to get back after I give it a little more thought.

I was thinking what Eichenluft said - the dog reminds me of a smooth collie. Except for those ears. But saying "oh it has big pointy ears so it must be a german shepherd" is like saying "that dogs black, it must be a lab mix". But then again, I don't know much about Smooth Collies, any collies for that matter, so I can't say what they looked like back then.
It's very possible that dogs of Merle coloring were used in creating the GSD, like Brindles were. But that doesn't mean they are magically going to pop up after YEARS of being gone.
