I have a very small window of opportunity (half an hour) each day, to get my boy out our house to do fitness training (I work out of town and by the time I get home the sun has almost gone and it's not safe to go to these places after dark.) His has got a huge garden which he gallops around given any chance during the course of the day. My question: is it ok to be doing this amount of intense training this late in the day?

I would say it would depend on temperature as far as how long or hard you work.
Its sad that there is no safe place to go.

I've never worried about the time when I take the hound out for his evening walk... which is usually a 2-3 mile gallop over the fields chasing rabbits etc which can be quite intense exercise for him. Sometimes it can be quite late, say around 10-11pm, and in fact I think it's better and he enjoys it more at that time. There's less people and more critters about, it's cooler, it requires more of the dogs senses and mental abilities and really sets him up ready for supper & sleep.

As always with exercise what's crucial is when feeding takes place... not to soon before or after depending on preference.
