i really hope this is a single purpose drug sniffer.  i cannot believe that the police departments would settle for such a timid dog as described in the article.

The line I found interesting:

He’s friendly, very good-natured — the new, kinder, gentler police dog,” King said. “He’s all about playing.”

So why is the city spending our tax dollars, some of the highest in the nation on these dogs?  He is obviously gun shy to boot.

From whom did they buy this spook, I wonder?   Who scammed the cops with a nerve-bag like this?

out of curiosity,if their dogs start patroling at 2 years they say they work at least a decade is it common ?12 leaves  a pretty short retirement.

Even a "friendly" single purpose drug or explosives dog should not spook lke that. It's a travesty.  An emabarrasment to the department and I hope they take a serious look at whoever is training their K9s.

There is now a $2000 reward for Bear.
He is lost in an area that is not far from some really bad parts of the city,  if he went south, he could be in an area know for some really shady characters.  Lets hope the reward is worth more than he is to the pit fighters looking for bait dogs.

Mystere:

Same thing here in Texas...A local deptment 10 miles from me got rooked into believing they got an import....Funniest looking import I ever saw with ears down,,,did not stand and he was so overweight he could not have jumped out of a car, over a fence or even run 1 mile...The department got into trouble financiall, took the PD dog and I do not know where it went, but I told the K9 officer, who bought one of my males,,,someone sure got rooked..
that is all I offered the situation , as I know nothing about where or how the dog got to them..

So glad the dog was found.

Maybe he was tracking  Bugglioliau  or whatever his name was.....lol
