I have a 8 month old female and male that came down with this last month. Female more so than the male. Previously had a puppy from completely diff. lines that came down with it as well. All were fed adult kibble. 22 to 24% protein levels. When I took my current puppies to the vet, we discussed this same issue. She thinks that it's basically genetic. Either you'll get it or you won't and that food doesn't play that big of a factor. I ended up switching everyone to BARF. She still has bad days but not where she doesn't want to get up. The male has pretty much cleared up, but whether it's due to a change in the food or just from time and the adage of some days are better than others, either way it's annoying for us to deal with when trying to train and painful for the pups. I have worked for a couple of vets in different areas of the US and have seen it in shelties and Corgis as well as many other large breeds...... I have seen it so much I can pretty much tell what it is before we go to the vet. The xray is just the final affirmation.....
