I can't wait either LOL

I'm not speaking to this damn dog ever again. Little twerp. You know what she's done? There was one last date when a THEORETICALLY possible conception could have taken place....when her progesterone test said she was out of heat. The guys bred her anyway. Well. Guess which one HAD to have taken? I did the counting correctly...breeding two days after the progesterone peak, starting the counting two days after that for conception...

I swear, I don't even see the point of progesterone testing any more. It's a good thing the guys didn't listen to the vet (or me), that's all I can say. Luckily, the male is very dominant (or the breeding never would have taken place to begin with) and I mean WAY more dominant than any male I've see...just ask Jyl. He was so "I'm not taking no for an answer" that it actually happened, no matter WHAT the dumb test said.

Grumble grumble! It's looking like a MOJITOS night again tonight!

Have you measured her temperature? We start doing that from 60 days on.
I would also not worry about gestation days. I had anything from 56 to 67 days in between, but the most common is 61 days for me.

by VomMarischal on 12 March 2010 - 19:03

I've been taking her temp about 3 times a day. It's always what it was at the vet's: 100.4

Hang on I'm going to take it again right now.

Nope, still the same.

Jeez!!! I've been checking this thread for days! Look, just tell her we're all waiting on her....LOL! That'll probably make her hang on another 24 hours.......Seriously, tho' ---she's waiting for the weekend! How many hours has it been since you saw the mucus discharge? I'd hate to think that she's vunerable to infection.....does your vet have Saturday hours...or are you in a west coast time zone? I'd ask the vet if that's an issue, if you haven't already. I know with people, if the membranes have ruptured there's a fairly large risk of infection after 24 hours....I have no idea how that translates to bitches in whelp, & my last pup was born almost 30 hours after the first pup....& she had problems but survived....now she's a real piece of work! Just worrying for you, saves you having to do it!  jackie harris

My vet was worried about infection too, but there's no bad bacteria and no fever, so I doubt it. I will keep an eye on the mucous and make sure it doesn't change colors. And none of the puppies appear to be stressed. So I think it's ok and she's just going to be one of those dogs who carries for 62 days or something...although I read somewhere that isn't even true, and that somebody miscalculated. I don't know. I only do this once every three years, long enough between to forget everything I learned!

Well, here's hoping for a bunch of happy, healthy puppies by Saturday morning! Good luck! Wish I could share a Mojito with you! Around here it's more like Muditos, or maybe Flooditos! jackie harris
