I've had good luck at the Super 8's.

La Quinta is a dog-friendly chain and a few clear steps above Motel 6 and Super 8.

Whenever we travel we like to stay at LaQuinta.  They are clean, comfortable  and VERY dog friendly, no extra charges.  Their complimentary continental  breakfast is not bad, either.   We joined their "returns" club and usually end up with one or two free nights a year, depending on how much we are traveling.

We're traveling 18 hours with ours this summer.  I have found LaQuinta, Drury Inn, Comfort Suites and some Days Inns to be pet friendly.  I always call ahead of time as I usually know our destination for the day.  Some charge an "additional" $10 pet fee per pet.

When our girl was young we stayed at a really nice Holiday Inn Express and made it just in time for the nightime snack of warm chocolate chip cookies and milk in the lobby.  YUMMY!!!  Of course, they had a 25 lb limit but since she was only 4 months old - we were able to get by staying there.

Motel 6 has never been a trouble at all when it comes to bringing in dogs but I have always {1} felt glad I had a GSD in the room with me and {2} Felt like it was one place you would not want to take a blacklight - - - - but then who knows? the high dollar hotels in big cities are where you are finding the bedbugs...........

I also love La Quinta.  No outrageous fees and they do allow large dogs like german shepherds while some proclaimed pet friendly hotels only allow dogs under 15 lbs (that's more like a cat).  You also get a free breakfast.

A lot of hotels began to rethnk thier pet policy after Oprah aired this story.
She was traveling and she stopped late one night to get a room, the Hilton would not let her bring in her dog, stated no pet policy, she pleaded with him and advised her driver was tired and she felt uncomfortable to contiune to drive. So she slept in limo with her dog and the driver to (he refused to take the room she offered to him). So she aired this and Hilton called her durring the show and advised her she coud bring her dog anytime, policy change!  Thank you Ophra. I love traveling with my dogs, now can you please travel with some of your larger friends....
