Sonia / Shilohgdrescue,
thanks for the picture! I thought that you said that  the pup is in a  quarantine due to his "hook worm infestation"??!!!?" But here he is playing all over with other dogs. I guess that shoots that BS into a foot too.
All you can see here is a nice healthy looking pup!!! He could use some brushing though.
66% of his weight?!!  Are you sure it is not 67% , or 65%. That is one of the most outlandish statements I have heard from Sonia yet. We, in order to promote best possible hips and other orthopedic development,  are taking great care to breed for slow growth. Look at  my 6th post on page 4 here.  GSD does not reach his full height until about 20 -24 mo and full weight until 36 mo. Jago Jipo  me is a medium sized dog about 78 -82 lb. But he is a rocket in speed and performance. Bryta, the pup's dam , is a big girl, I would say about 85-88lb. Thus I would estimate that when the pup is fully grown he will be between 78-88lb.
Only thing I am worry about is that Sonia is overfeeding the pup and pup is going to grow too fast and have bad hips due to his forced growth.  I can not wait for that ordeal.

He looks healthy to me!!!!

FYI I have had a few puppies at that age (some are now working K9s) that were not much bigger or a tad smaller turn out "normal" size. I, in fact, have a 4.5 month old puppy (DOB 03/07/2010) that is just about the exact same size! Am I worried?? Absolutely not.  My bitches arn't huge, weighing in at 63lbs., 56lbs and 70lbs, all within the normal range. German Shepherds were not meant to be 120lb dogs!!!! I much prefer my puppies to grow slow and steady rather then like they've been fed miracle grow.

Just my .02, but the puppy is normal size.

Here's a good size illustration.  Here is the pup literally standing under our female, Mercedes.  Note the foot size as well.  Photo taken July 22, 2010, pup is 19.5 weeks old.  If you read up on hookworm, they can't survive in "muck" or clay soils, which as you can see, is what we have here.  Hookworm will stunt a puppy's growth or worst case scenario, kill it.  Did your Dr. Merrill do a fecal test on this black pup before shipping?  I'd like to see it if he did.

Still a refusal to answer simple questions???

by mobjack on 23 July 2010 - 02:07

This might sound kind of bad but you've had this pup for two months now. If that pup has a simple case of hookworms and your vet can't get it cleared up in that amount of time, you need to go see a different vet. Either that or you're doing something wrong with the meds or he's getting reinfected somewhere on your property. Hookworms aren't that hard to get rid of.

Well this thread has sure been interesting.

I have been reading this board for a week now since I came across it looking for info on german shepherds.  I am lookign to get my first one now and feel that I need to research and get as much info as I can to make sure I am dealing with the right breeder and the right dog for me.

I live in Arizona and came across Hans website via google.  I exchanged emails with Hans and then phone calls and actually went to see him today on my luch break to see what dogs he has available.  Hans and his woman are very nice and provided me with a lot of information.  Their place is nice and I felt comfortable.  I ended up seeing a female from that same litter I believe (Hans can correct me if I am wrong) and she looks spectacular.  Hans was very honest and gave me great advice.  I wanted a trained dog but after speaking with Hans I may not have the skill yet for that and I now want a puppy.

I am sorry to hear that someone had a bad experience but if they guy is willing to rectify it, what's the problem??  It's like on ebay.  Instead of leaving negative feedback, why not try to work it out first??  I guess everytone needs something to b*tch about and likes hopping on the net to tell their stories to gain sympathy instead of getting the situation resolved.

Hans was a stand up guy and with my contact with him today I am comfortable with him.  I know if I do purchase the pup I am welcome to call Hans with questions at anytime .  I am also close enough to go back and do some training with the pup as she grows.  I say hans i a good guy and check him out if you have the chance.  The guy was good to me.

Now that both sides of the story is out in the open, let me ask you this: "What is it that you want from Hans?!"

You're making this harder than it really is. Also, as stated before, you're just avoiding questions addressed to you by saying how bad the pup is. Let me put it into simple words for you, in less than five letters, less than five words, and one syllable words: "Send...The...Dog...Back"

The longer you keep him, the more vet bills you're gonna have, the more cleaning you're gonna have, the more rubber gloves you're gonna have to buy, and the more sanitizing you're gonna have to do for your garden. If you're that unhappy with the pup, ***question addressed to you here***, "why keep putting yourself through the torture?"

I don't know either party personally but came up with a simple solution.
Directed @ shilogdrescue and  Ms. Eva Sonia Berg: If a person (having only puppy's well-being  as well as satisfaction of both parties in mind) showed up on your doorstep or was willing to meet you at pre-arranged location to pay you for insance sum of $1,975 in cash for the puppy you are so unhappy with, what would your response be? Please simple yes or no answer . No more drama, no more background checks on the breeder in question and  all his relatives  and no more nonsense.

This is the picture Sonia / Shilohgdrescue posted on the rip-off report. You guys can judge for yourself if this dog looks like a 'pure' german shepherd, or if he looks sick?

by FHTracker on 23 July 2010 - 04:07

He looks bright eyed, alert, good pink gums ...

I don't like black shepherds so I can't speak to his 'look' in terms of GSD or not but he doesn't look sick.
