hi i have a beautiful 4 months old male puppy that i took from a friend as a gift. every time i walk him he gets bullied by the neighbourhood cats, he is friendly with most people but he gets easily intimidated by anything. my friends who previously owned dogs keep telling me he look  too small for a 4months old gsd
and sometimes they say he is not a pure bred which really annoys me.. he is 13.4 inches tall and weighs about 35.2 lbs, i feed him 3 times a day , each  meal contains youghurt, milk, an egg, rice, vegtables, (some times) chicken bones..but a week a ago i switched to puppy dry food like purina..

its my first time owning a dog so i have so many questions:

is his size ok for his age , and is it normal to get so scared so easily, am i feeding him right ??

thx

The weight sounds OK . I  really don't know how tall he should be . Lets see a photo , we can tell more what he looks like in over all appearance

I don't know about his size but I'm concerned about his diet.  What kind of chicken bones are you feeding him?  Please tell me that you are actually feeding him raw chicken bones.  If not, if you are actually feeding him chicken bones as leftovers from your dinner  - STOP!!!! - Cooked chicken bones can kill your dog.  I prefer not to feed any bones to my dog but if you want to give him a bone make it a raw beef marrow bone or knuckle bone.  If you are feeding him raw chicken backs and ribs thats ok.  You need to educate yourself on dog foods and find a better kibble than Purina puppy chow.  You will want to get him on an adult large breed kibble soon anyway.  I would keep feeding 3 times a day for at least two more months then switch to 2 times, morning and evening (no later than 5 or 6pm so he has time to potty before bedtime.)  Puppy foods are too high in fat and protein and you could cause him to grow too fast and end up with joint problems.  There are lots of good threads on here regarding what to feed or not feed your dog.  I would also cut out the milk, he doesn't need it.  Cut the egg back to one meal a day or every other day as it really isn't necessary either.  If you feed a good dry kibble you don't need much more than a tablespoon of vegetable oil and maybe a glucosomine suppliment.  Be sure that you wet the dry kibble and let it soak for a few minutes so that it has absorbed the water before feeding your puppy.  If you are feeding it dry and the puppy has access to water you could end up with a bloated puppy which is a deadly situation.

Puppies are easily intimidated by large, loud things.  Be patient with him, try not to let others and/or situations overwhelm him.  don't baby him when he is frightened but let him know that he can trust you to protect him.  Remove him from situations that are too scary but encourage him to confront harmless things so he can see it won't hurt him.  Cats can leave a lasting impression on a pup so carry a spray bottle and squirt the cats so they run from him and they won't be bullying him anymore.

Good luck and post pictures soon.  We'd love to see him.

your diet lacks muscle meat.
add:
- meaty cuts (bone-in cuts are particularly nice because the dog gets a chance to tear the meat from the bone but boneless and ground are good too),
- heart (turkey, beef, pork, lamb ... heart is considered mucle meat rather than organ).
- chicken legs (has a very good meat to bone ratio so is a good cut) ...

this should help him put on weight - our pup is 16 weeks old and is eating about 2.5 lbs lb of food every day.  he eats a lot of chicken bones - backs, frames & necks - and he is thin, but to this we add at least 1 lb is meat - beef, emu, pork, mutton, deer ....  it's better to grow large breed pups slow so keeping him thin is good but you definitely don't want him missing important nutrition however upping the meat in his diet will help this.

also add liver once a week plus other organ meat like kidneys, sweetbread etc on occassion

good luck & hth,
