I've had this discussion myself, as I live in a fairly ethnically diverse neighborhood, and have neighbors who are Muslim (and immigrants like myself).  Some are deathly afraid of my dog.  Others are merely wary.  And then I've had a couple tell me off in the park for having a dog, because they're unclean.  They were a little shocked when I responded that that rule about unclean made sense in a particular cultural context -- the pariah dogs that eat garbage and are riddled with disease definitely *are* unclean and to be avoided.  Every year hundreds of people die from rabies in the developing world because animals are unvaccinated and transmit the disease through bites. Then I added that my dog isn't fed garbage, and is vaccinated, so he isn't a vector for transmitting disease.  And then I add that *my* culture -- and the one we're all currently living in -- doesn't prohibit keeping dogs.   And the conversation stalls there.

I would still prefer it if my neighbors weren't scared stiff on encountering me walking the dog in public, but there's nothing I can do about it if they won't approach us and learn that he's not vicious.  I'd also like to be able to address their more theological issues with dog keeping, so I've been very interested in the comments here.

They OFFEND me, coming to other countries and demanding everyone kow tow to their bogus bs.

Evangelical Christians offend me because they do the same thing.  You know what I do?  Ignore them.  I've had incredibly WONDERFUL muslim friends.  You know what makes them wonderful?  They're not crazy bastards.

Freemont: Dogs are not considered unclean. It is jsut, that you cannot let them enter the room that you are going to pray in.

Xeph: yes thatis true. They think that they tower over us, and rule us, but in fact, 1/2 the stuff they knwo or have, originates from us Muslims, if we wer not there, they would be even stupider than they currently are.

What i said to Xeph, does not go to all Christians , as some are veyr kind & helpful, as well as respectful. However there are some twerps, who think they are all that, and in fact ae useless idiots. This goes to the useless idiots.

Another question i wish to ask now, is why the hell, have some of you twerps started something about Muslim terrorists, and osama on this board? Thsi is about Muslims owning dogs, NOT TERRORISTS
 
Another Thing: Some of you are very respectful, and kind as well as helpful. I appreciate & like these kind of people. They are a great addition to the society. However then there are complete ingnorant idiots, who have no respect for anythin. They should be destroyed.

For you to take the word "FORBADE", and interpret it to mean "SUGGESTION" seems to me as "RADICAL".

For Hamza; you have restored my faith in you. Apart from the normal tripe you come up with this is an excellent topic, and a brave subject that could never be raised by a non Muslim.

The issue with ALL religions is the interpretation, Christianity is a classic, I am a cultural Christian i.e. I don't go to church or worship but loosely follow the rules, generally enjoying Xmas and easter Holidays, many Muslims, Sikhs etc are also cultural as opposed to practicing,they follow the traditions for weddings,births, deaths, probably because of community expectations and what the family want etc.

How many Roman Catholics do you know that throw live cats and goats of church towers, stone birds to death as part of their celebrations....none.  However this is a common occurrence in one nearby Christian country. There is a tribe in Iran (Muslim) renowned over thousands of years for the large guard dogs they produce. Geo graphics play a huge part in how religions are applied. China has more Muslims than all the countries put together but their cultures are different again.

I have read the Prophet kept nine cats, he loved them, I work in Slough yet I have yet to me any Asian families with cats, can't explain that.

GSD rule your out burst which I no doubt you regret is do with the weight of political correctness in this country.

These forums should allow the world to be a better place, thanks to the contributions of Hamza and more so ADI my stereotypes and preconceptions have changed for the better.

I never said anything about terrorists, you nitwit.  I said your religion sucks and so do the brainwashed cavemen that follow it.

Is it terrorists that refuse to pick up passengers with dogs in the taxis they drive?  Is it terrorists that DEMAND prayer rooms in public places, when other religions can't even be mentioned?  Is it terrorists that run over and kill their daughters for being too
