I don't know if you're right or wrong, pientje.

The fact is, as I've said on a previous thread, show dogs CAN work, but they largely lack the dedicated handlers and they're unlikely to be as good as W/L dogs.  You Sch guys are out there daily training your dogs, most (not all) show line dogs are trained as a means to an end.  It's not new!

I don`t wanne say that a showline can`t work, and offcourse i don`t know for sure if this dog was send to germany.
And i understand that people who bought a dog for the show, just don`t have the time, or it is just not there thing to put Sch titles on the dog, that`s not why they bought the dog in the firstplace.
I mean if i want to go with my dog to get a KK i have to show him twice, well thats not my thing so i would do the minimum that i have to do to get the "G" (good) i need.
I understand that showline breeders don`t trial there dogs to get very high points, because that is not there game, they need it, just like i need to do the show with my workingline, i don`t go there and try to win the show!
But i do think that every title a dogs got should me obtained for real!
Now i don`t say this dog didn`t earn his titles but it`s just a feeling i get from my side.
And just one question is this the dog shown in the video of the conversation with the UK kennel club at the Crufts?

Pientje, yes this is the same dog that won BoB at Crufts this year.  We have huge problems with our KC who want to promote "Alsatians" over German Shepherd Dogs.

I can't tell you how lovely it is to have someone understand and accept the S/L W/L thing and for what it's worth, I agree about titles being genuine... what's the point if it's fake?

I think it is for both parties a little bit weird, i mean anyone who really wants to do Sch with a dog will not buy a showline dog, and people who want to do shows will not buy a workingline dog.
People who go and look for a pup from a workingline would careless what the showresults from the parents are, and people who look for a pup for shows don`t care how many points the parents got at a Sch trail.

I heard of youre problems with the kennelclub, it`s a shame if they don`t care about healthproblems or certificates, i don`t know what an alsation is? but there is a breedstandart that should be good to know wich dog is the best of breed.
I do`n`t know what youre exact problems are with the kennelclub, and what you would like to see happen, or what the demands are now to breed with a german shepherd?
I have to be honest i think the dog in the video moves horrible with his hind legs, but then again i`m used to workingline dogs!

Ahhhh... well, I'm going to be trying my hand at Sch with a S/L dog and I'm looking forward to it!  I want it all.  Now I may not have you W/L guys quaking in your boots (lol) but I'm going to give it my best shot!

You know what, it doesn`t matter wetter you and youre dog are going to be champions and getting great points!
And it doesn`t matter what workingline people think of it, the only thing that is important is that you and youre dog are having a great time, because after all it is a hobby!
And not all workinglines are great in this sport either so don`t worry what people may say or think about youre dog, just enjoy yourself.
I only can have respect for people with a showline who work there dog no matter what the results are!

I think most working lines people WISH the SL people would work their dogs. Heck yeah, get out there and do it! It's good for all concerned!

I have s/l dogs and I bought them for beauty and brains. They do Schutzhund just fine. They will never be like a working line dog with insane drive, born to it but they can compete. many show line people work their dogs more then working lines because they have to build drive AND prepare them for conformation ring.I did buy my showlines for Schutzhund and I knew the training would progress more slowly. So be it. This dog is absolutely beautiful. You don't get BOB from a fluk breeding. This is not a dog from somebody who didn't know about hips and lines. Get past the hip rating BS and celebrate that someone is breeding German SHepherds that LOOK like shepherds. I can assure you the owner of this dog will not be whoring him out to every bitch that comes along. At her level of breeding and estabished name, do you really think she is in this for the money?  And as far as his SchH scores? Get a life. Maybe they weren't 290s but he probably got the scores honestly. No one would put half assed titles on him. Can't we just agree that he is a beautiful titled dog that won BOB?
