Having read this thread through again, it seems clear to me that we're not so far apart in our views.  I think you should give "us" another go, I think all so called, "middle of the road" owners should.  I'm not big on double handling either... yes, I'll hide and I'll "call" my dog if necessary... but running round the ring?  No!

I hope you'll all consider attending, with an open mind... even if you don't enter your dog/s.

Misbeeb,i would love to be able to show Chiki at the regional shows but unfortunately due to my hubbys ill health since beginning of 2005 and housing problems i havent had her scored ,so no breed survey,so not eligible for entry.she has never been mated and now aged 7 is too old for 1st litter.i now have to wait till the time comes for 1 of them to go to heaven before i can have another.only allowed 2 in my housing assoc.bungalow.hopefully i,ll be able to get to the sthrn.gsd reg.event in may.you,ll meet my chiki at WELKS,unless sh,s out of coat.night.Carole.

For Sue B

Firstly...I read with interest what you posted but it appears the continuation vanished somewhere???

You said "IMO No it couldnt because the true / correct German International type does not have the exaggerations you speak of and if they do they are few and far between and are incorrect and are not promoted."

I did not at any point state what I thought was an exaggeration?

Best Regards

Dave

Faireylander-
just popped onto your website to have a look-and i noticed that your dog polly flinders was listed with the judges that gave her the cc's.
and i was surprised that you are arguing on here about the correct international german shepherd ( the only true shepherd the world over ) because all of those judges i have never seen either judging or showing at a GERMAN SHEPHERD breed show-why would they if they dont have the correct type-end of storey.

by noddi on 04 April 2010 - 08:04

well, well, well, see you,re back pencil.these nice have explained the reasons why they do not enter germanic shows.its NOT BECAUSE THEIR ANIMALS AREN,T OF THE CORRECT TYPE,COZ THEY ARE,BUT THEY DO NOT LIKE THE ANTICS THAT GO ON AT GERMANIC SHOWS.we are all alowed to make our own choices.okay the judges who gave Polly Flinders her tickets arent/dont show on the german side,SO WOT.my bitch has a ticket from GILL GRAY,who also doesnt show her and Garys gsds at german type show.SO WHY ARENT YU SLAGGING ME AND MY BITCH OFF EH.is it coz yu know that i won the bitch ticket at crufts under a judge considered to be a germanic 1.ie.Eric Broadhurst and that i,ve stated before that she,s been placed by german and continental judges as has other dogs of mine in the past.have yu tried to research me and come up ZILCH.i aint got a website but Chiki,s pic .is in one of the B/C yearbook(2005 i think)and also some of the mags(altho.i,m not to keen on the pics/not true likeness imo.)get a life and leave people alone.concentrate on your own animals.Carole Spelman.

Well said Carole

Pencil WHAT! are you going on about? If you bothered to read the story in the first place you would see that nowhere do we mention the Correct type. In our opinion it is this small minded and blinkered attitude that got us here in the first place.
All of these Judges have and Do judge GERMAN SHEPHERD Breed and Championship shows, and several dogs of which you refer to as the International type have gained CC's under them, Which only goes to show that, they at least are much more broad minded than you give them credit for, at least they would give your dogs a fair chance and judge them on their merits and not just their Type!
Who made you the expert? At the end of the day you like us are just the custodians of this beautiful breed, and we hope you see fit to do it justice, We just prefer to show our dogs differently to you--That's all!
You my friend are just another one hiding behind a sudo name- Frightened we might do a bit of our own research into your pedigree's/ Website??
Maybe you should research the whole story and not just make up your own happy ending, bet you've probably got some of the same dogs along the lines as we have--Oh dear- that's knocked the lead out of your pencil eh!

Middle of the road is to my mind a terminology adopted to mean a GSD of correct type with no exaggerations either way. I think a better term would be one that has been used before  - universal GSD. There really shouldn't be more than one correct type, but somewhere along the way 3 distinct branches seem to have been allowed to develop - International, Alsatian, and working. To me, the closest dog to the correct body type is working.

To answer Daves question about the outline - a working line dog probably mostly conforms would fit the middle outline, but not necessarily the carrying the build and temperament.

So.....
Is a Middle of The Road / Universal / Working Line or whatever other name we want to give it a German Shepherd Dog or an Alsation?

It is quite clearly different from both the German/International type which many on this forum state is the "Correct" GSD and is also quite different from the dog that on here is known as "Alsatian".
