I suspect a puff adder or night adder, not too sure.We found a few before.I was out of town for 7 weeks when this occurred. My wife was with the dogs.We usually find them around here. Our JRT normally spot them first. The dogs keep them away from the house.Snakes move around where it is quiet and with minimal activity.

I have never heard of a dog surviving a bite from an adder, unless the snake is a very young night adder. Most of the other snakes around here are harmless.
Hoping this answers your question.

Sounds like the adder is a very serious animal to have in your habitat.
Peace!

Show or Working, if the dog is healthy physically and mentally...AND....HAS GREAT TEMPERAMENT, I would own either one, but my preference is Show line. It is what I own and enjoy.
