Bummer, I was told 4 were entered. I was hoping to see more participation from the coated dogs. Maybe they were supressed and it will take some time for them to get used to the idea.

4 were entered but only 2 showed up.

Sorry guys

There were only 2 entered, 2 were listed in the catalog NO pulls. Not in the catalog you're not in the Sieger Show.smiley

It may take a little time for it to sink in with the LSC being recognized.

But now we have the first VA1 (USA) LSC thanks to USA. It's only going to get better from here.

I guess after shunning them for years, it will take some time to turn things around.

All it would have taken was a little bit of marketing, and there would undoubtedly have been more LCs entered.   After all, breeders, particularly the show-line breeders, have been selling the "hairy" puppies at premium prices for years.   How, exactly, was John Q. Public to know that their coats with fabulous show pedigrees could be entered in a national show?  There was nothing done to get the word out to them. sad   There were probably some very nicely structured LC  pets in the Dallas area whose owners didn't have a clue.

No doubt WDA will learn from USCA's mistake and actually do a little marketing to LC owners for the NASS, to get LC entries. sad

I think coated or not people rarely put their money where their mouth is.  I've heard so many LC owners moan about not being able to show and I've always encouraged those I know locally to enter UKC shows where the LC often do very well and yet, they never show up there either.  Like so many things it's easier to be an armchair quarterback than actually enter/train/trial/show your dog!  This is not unique to the USA Sieger Show or long coated dogs.

Distance may have been an issue to.  That is the reason I was not there with my new dog (working line).  There seem to be "pockets" of entries around the bigger name show kennels and for several of those "pockets", TX was not do-able.  If next year's show is in Indy I will be there and will try to get a progeny group for a working line dog that showed in the working class a few years ago.

A little OT, but I have a coated bitch I would show, from workinglines. Dallas was a bit far for me, a newbie handler.

I have contacted several show secretaries for USCA conformation shows in 2011, and have either received no response, or one response to my question of "will your show have LC classes?" was just a very short email stating "NO."

Does not exactly make me want to continue trying.

Yes, the 2012 USA Sieger show will be in Indy, venue is set, hotel contract is signed they are ready to take reservations.  Yes, we will offer the long stock coats again.  Franz our first working class long coat was outstanding.

I don’t understand clubs having shows not wanting to add the LC it’s not that more work. Keep trying.

GAGSD4 (Mary):

What part of the country are you in?    Contact the regional breed warden, if the clubs are USCA clubs, and ask him/her for some assistance.   Some of the clubs may be run by folks who don't yet know or understand about the change regarding the coats.
