When I just saw that a video had been posted by Lane Shepherds I had to post. I know I will get attacked and flamed and  made to feel awful but I need to let people know about this guy.

I sent him $3000 for a puppy. He said I had to send the whole amount to reserve a puppy. Then, I asked for a video of the puppy he was choosing to check temperament and things as I live clear across the country. He refused. I then asked if he could please just do a temperament test then and tell me the results he refused.  I didn't think either request was unreasonable as I was buying a breeding quality puppy.

I asked for my money back and he refused.

This whole thing happened within a week......  He was so unprofessional and attacked me in e-mails.

He took my entire $3000. I filed a complaint with the CA better business bureau.

We worked so hard to earn that $3000 and I thought he was reputable.  I guess you just have to pay and shut up and not ask any questions.

I am only posting so that someone else doesn't go through what I went through.....It wasn't fair.

I am prepared to give my name, address, and phone number if anyone wants to PM me.

I think this breeder should be ashamed of himself.  So, flame me all you want but when I saw him post here I had to say my piece so nobody else goes through what I went through.

$3000??  Wow.  I agree with you that neither of your requests were unreasonable.  For that amount of money he should of done hand stands for you too.

Did you ever get your pup? if so, what is it like?

No, I didn't.

I am not a crazy person. I am a normal person who was so excited to buy a female pup to show in the working events (obedience, agility, rally).

We own a horse farm and are active in our community.  So, my point is that I am not some weirdo person.

I did learn my lesson and just bought a puppy locally.

But, I am still horrified at what happened. I don't know about you but $3000 is a lot of money for us.

I feel that he should have accomodated me or given me my money back. It wasn't a long process. Everything happened within a week.

I was afraid to start this post as I have seen what happens to other people twho start topics like this. But, I had to do it as I don't want anyone to lose their money like I did.

When I saw that he had posted here I had to do it.....

I didn't know what else I could do about what happened. It was over a year ago- maybe closer to 2. I did file with the BBB but they just sent me some letter saying they received my complaint but they couldn't really do anything.

Anyway, I just wanted to give people the heads up that's all. That $3000 was a huge loss for us and I think it was unethical and down right wrong.

Wow,  I'm so sorry for your bad experience. I'm doubtful you will get atttacked over this post. Lane Shepherds is not #1 on the popularity list here (well, at least not in a good way).

As Red Sable said, asking for a video and temeperament test are reasonable requests.

I sure hope you can get things resolved. I wish for you the very best.

Well, Mr. Lane drops in here quite often.  If he has any decency at all, he will give you your money back.
And don't feel bad, $3000 is a heck of a lot of money to everyone, especially for one of his 'quality' dogs.

Thank you, guys. But, judging from the vicious way he attacked me via e-mail when it happened I know he will not send me my money back.

Actually, it might be going on 2 years now since the incident. I, honestyly, tried to forget everything as I felt so stupid.  I am an educated person and never thought I would be one of "those" people who gets taken.

But, when I saw he posted a video here I just had to say something to protect other people....

I have learned a lot since that time.  I just bought my pup from a local breeder with DDR working line dogs that has been breeding for 20+ years. I met her, the puppies and the dam.  My pup has been really great and I am very happy with her.

I guess live and learn.

But, please don't do business wth this breeder for your own protection.

Again, I apologize for even having to start this thread. I am not a boat rocker type of person. :-(

Very sorry for what you went through.  You definitely should be refunded all of your money!

Sorry for your nasty experience. It is inexcusable. I have never heard of anyone drmanding the full price as a deposit. Not even "the usual suspects" among the unethical and questionable

Thank you both.

I guess I was pretty stupid. I even sent a money order like he wanted. I was just so excited to be getting my first GSD that was a show prospect (performance). I wanted an old style dog with a straight back and less angulation that was stable and like the german shepherds I had remembered as a kid. His dogs and the advertsising seemed perfect.

I can't comment on his dogs as I never got my puppy. So, maybe he breeds really great dogs. I am not here to comment on the quality of his animals as I do not know.

I know people will say there are two sides to every story but I swear, on my reputation, that every single thing I say is 100% true. I stand by my comments and I am sure my complaint is still on file in CA.

I am not trying to hide behind anything. I will just provide all my personal information. I will even post it pubically if people think that is appropriate.....

I am cringing inside as I have lurked for awhile and I know these type of threads never go well.

But, I am not a liar. It was awful what happened. I was embarrassed and my husband was floored. I feel worse for my husband who was strying to help me fufill my lifelong dream. If I could go back and get that money back for him I would. If I could go back in time and do things different I would. Shame on me but shame on the breeder for being so unethical to a new GSD buying.  I don't think I was asking for the world.

I can't tell you the amount of tears I shed for myself and my husband for being so stupid.

So, please- my only reason for posting and humiliating myself- is to stop someone else from losing all their money with this breeder and going through a similar experience.

You know, I did file a complaint but what else can you do??  When I saw him post I made the decision to share my story.

I am not looking for trouble. In fact, I really want to never post about it again as it just hurts inside. So, maybe now that I told everyone,  I might stop someone else from getting their money taken I can just move on......

I am sorry to post like this. I know these posts never end well. *cringe*

I can understand how you feel, but you did the right thing.  I already have my impression of Lane by the way he posts, so I don't expect him to come on here and apologize to you or to be decent by any stretch of the imagination.

Posts like these do serve a very important purpose.  If no one ever spoke up, no one would ever be held accountable for their actions.
