NASS 2011 Working Male Final Ring....

by crhuerta on 25 October 2011 - 13:10

Good morning Deanna!
I will agree with the observation in regards to Taureg.
Saying this....I offer only my own personal opinion, nothing against the owner or importer of this dog.
I was simply disappointed because I expected him to be "more" than he actually is.
Yes...he is a "nice" dog....but so are many, many others.
Xenox (VA-2) *in my humble opinion* was more deserving on the 1st place....dog for dog.
Yes....there will always be *some form of politics & favoritism* at these venues, but I can honestly say....I was "over all " satisfied & agreement in the placements in most classes.
We watched placements of deserving puppies and dogs, where in the past years would not have achieved such....
So YES...there were obvious " ya gotta be kidding me's"......but there were more "it's about time(s)! ".    JMO

There is always much more to the placements than the normal "peanut" gallery could ever understand - the overall dog, what he has contributed and is capable to contributing to the breed, and and and and.  A kennel name that has consistantly for over 40 years contributed to the overall direction of the breed, and and and...having obtained 42 VA titles in the last 27 years I was very happy to call Tuareg VA1. Yes, there were lots of nice dogs in the ring, there was one V dog that I personally was SHOCKED did not receive a VA and there were a few VA's that I questioned, but that is always personal opinion.  Mandy West

Mandy....
Since I responded, and "being of the peanut gallery"....(hardly).
You should be proud in being part of Taureg's placement.....he is of course, a nice dog.
But as with anyone's opinion....other's have the same right to voice theirs.
There will always be "better" dogs behind a good dog.....in any venue.
The Bad Boll kennel has produced some very excellent dogs, but as with any kennel here and abroad, there are and will be dogs produced that are great, good and adequate.
Having years in breeding & having a well known kennel name does not automatically "create" a great dog.
I'm sure that Taureg will make his owners & breeder proud.....as he is a very good dog....and the enthusiasts in this breed will "crave" to see progeny from him.....for THAT is when one can honestly "label" a dog as great.
I congratulate you on your placement, and respect you as an enthusiast.....but I am still true to my educated opinion......no matter where "in the peanut gallery" I may fall.
respectfully...JMO

Agree, I see some really good dogs in the very back with superb progeny in the states and Germany, some VA dogs that squeezed in the VA class, someother move up too much, and too many "Breeding Favors" K-9 and Humane both.
I.E.

Tuareg vom Bad Boll VA1..

by MLTWest on 25 October 2011 - 14:10

Ruger 1, thank you for posting such great photos!  It is always nice to see.
My personal request would have been that Tuareg would have been in coat, he started blowing coat and by the show had not 1 piece of extra hair, not a excuse just saying my preference is that the "picture" would have been a little prettier:)
There is a list and photos of some of his progeny on the Bad-Boll web page and that is just a small few.  Hopefully next year he will present a group here in America.
From a personal standpoint I was happy as he is the third dog in his pedigree that I personally have helped obtain a VA rating.
Robin you know that I would never refer to YOU as "peanut gallery" it was just an expression.
I have always felt very lucky that we are all free to have our choice of type and breedings.  For 27 years I have done this for the breed, that I love and admire very much, and for fun...not for personal gain in any way, it is one of my hobbies, just one that I enjoy very much for the benefit of the dogs, nothing other.
Regardless of anything it was all great fun and for my daughter I am very happy the VA1 is a Bad-Boll:):)
