Hi guys and Gals, I've been in contact with Jinopo and a UK based breeder and dog trainer who will as of 2012 be importing and selling dogs from Jinopo in the UK, similar to what Mr Hans does,in the USA. After speaking to the breeder he said it would cost £2000 for a Jinopo dog including shipping and the other expenses. I think it sounds reasonable, but because I am knew to importing, is this too much or just about right? Regards

Hi aloysius, is this for a trained dog or a puppy?

I've become a little jaded on dogs that cost a lot of money, because, I've found through experience,  that pedigree doesn't mean much, nor do titles.  It all boils down to what type of dog you want.
If you are happy with the dog, than of course it will be worth it to you, if you expect more than what you get because of the high cost, than you will think it is too much.

I think it is a fair price when you include shipping and other expenses.

I got my 5 month old puppy from John & Christine Smith who have kennels in Rutland, why don't you contact them as they have Jinopo bloodlines in their pups. I can vouch for the temperament and drive if mine is anything to go by.

Here's a thread about mine.

If you're interested I can give you their details, they're well worth a look, you won't be disappointed and you'll save yourself a lot of expense.

That is a lot of money in the UK, bearing in mind that there are some great litters on the ground at the moment for a third of the price.

My advice is that if you think that your pup is worth 2k then pay it BUT, and there is a big but, the breeding is a strong indication of the what the pup might turn out to be but if it were me I would pay a few quid more to have an independent trainer select the right pup for me.

If you trusted the breeder 100% I don't believe you would be asking questions about the price and value. Again if you had the experience yourself or the breeder was a personal friend I don't believe you would be asking.

Just make sure you it's the right pup for your needs and lifestyle, it's worth paying what its worth to you then....

dear Ronin,

thanks for the advice. In most of your advice you are correct. I know Jinopo has a good reputation, a cousin of mine bought a dog from Alpine K9 in the states, but I haven't had personal experience with them. i was considering whether it would be preferable to check places closer to home such as belgium or germany or even going over to pick the pup myself, however I do not know of any reputable breeders in Belgium or Germany who produce Czech Dark Sable GSD's and that offer good health guarantees. I guess I am a bit worried about what dog I will eventually end up with if I get a dog from Jinopo if I have not chosen it first hand.

Has anyone purchased a dog from Jinopo, and perhaps could shed some light on your experience??

Jinopo has great dogs! I have had only the best experience from them and am 100% happy with what they have sold me.
As for good czech breeders in Belgium, you can try Pieter Marius in Belgium from the kennel CERNA BOHEMIA at  http://www.cernabohemia.com/
He has an excellant male czech Oskar z Milberku. There are some matings planned with Oskar, including with his own DDR bitch that is to be whelped sometime in December.

Otherwise for a czech + westline mix there is also breeder "Du Noble nid" http://www.dunoblenid.be/ that have mix czech/DDR and west.

I know all three breeders personally, so can vouch for them all :-)

Good Luck in your search!!
