Joyce what you say is true but don`t all dogs have the potential to produce bad hips?? missbeeb i would hope that they didnt breed from him but MAYBE given the right female who`s to say the pups might have decent hip scores, if he was to become a CH wouldn`t the temptation to breed him be there ? i know enough of Linda to think she wouldn`t breed him as she is one i admire for what she and Keith have achieved over the years along with others in the north east.
In my personal opinion its time the UK GSD scene broke away from the KC and went it alone.

Macca, there maybe only 5% of UK GSD breeders involved in the GSD Show scene. If they "broke away from the KC" what do you think the other 95% would do?

Yes Macca, all dogs have the potential to produce bad hips, some family's more than others, along with other major problems.
The point I am making is Randy will not  contribute, he will do no harm to the breed,
Becoming a Champion should not make the slightest difference , It does not change the situation, he is the same dog,

Macca

The temptation to breed Randy has always been there and regardless of whether he becomes a Champion or not he is still the same beautiful dog with the same hip score therefore he will NEVER BE BRED FROM.

We also contacted the Kennel Club regarding showing Randy This was the reply we received.

Thank you for your enquiry.

In answer to your query, judges are only required to consider whether a dog is suffering from a visible condition which adversely affects its health or welfare.

Therefore any knowledge which a Judge may have with regard to the health status of the dog, such as its hip score, should not be taken into account when judging, and it would not be appropriate to base any judging decisions on such information.

I hope this will be helpful to you.

Kind regards

BREEDING AND SHOWING ARE TWO SEPARATE THINGS as David has pointed out only around 5% of people that breed actually show their dogs.  Until such time as the rules change we will continue to enjoy showing Randy after all Showing our dogs is what we do as a hobby.

Macca if you feel the GSD should break away from the Kennel Club have you got an ACTION PLAN in place to do so. I would like you to post it on this site so everyone can see it. Why dont you put every aspect foreward i.e.
Rules, Regulations,Funding and Governing Body.

Linda do you not think this a continuation of an old thread. I personally admire yourself and Kieth for your openess on the subject .

Macca why dont you pick the phone up and speak to Linda or Kieth, You also say you ADMIRE what they have achieved (dont think so) peronally its the green eyed monster talking,

jaymesie 51-

when you share your opinion with us all of people showing dogs at their own show when they are on the committee of that show, and people going under judges that are fellow committee members of the same club.excepting the facts that these people have no morals and no regard for how it all looks to newcomers, and is one of the PRIME reasons for the show scene decline. just give us YOUR opinion, a bigger fence sitter i have never come across.
so when you have enlightened me ( which of course like all the others you won't for fear of upsetting the hierarchy ) i will yet again tell u my name.
