by joanro on 20 November 2012 - 21:11

They come and go at the same time and are interchangeable in lack of substance.....if they're not, they came from under the same slimy rock. LOL

"I recently had a conversation with a breeder that stated his vet told him,"give me a dog with shit for hips, and I will do like the chiropractor for two weeks, and position that dog as many times as it takes, to get a passing score" Look at that poor dog whose femur was an inch shorter than the other on that recent thread. If that person went by that vets report that poor dog would be deep shit."

That is crazy! I'm not up to speed like most of you here but I have to assume that this is not the only guy doing things like this. Now I don't feel as bad about running potential breeder/brokers that I may do business with through the ringer. Man, I have a lot to learn...

Hundmutter if you only knew how bad I hated cell phones. But I do take little trips so I need one for on the road. So yep it's up and kicking. I knew what he meant--just being flip as usual.

Michael I've known people back in the old days before you had to ID the dogs with a chip or tatoo who would take their best dog to vet after vet under another name to certify hips on dogs that would never pass. I know this because I worked for a vet that caught one--guess she forgot she'd already taken him there once before.............Good for you for running them through the wringer. There are a lot of money hungry people out there.................

Good job

I let it slide the first time, troll, but for the record, NEVER have I made anything even close to resembling so much as a SUGGESTION that I am a veterinarian, 'online' or otherwise, and I resent you implying otherwise.

To the contrary, I have and always will take great care to make it clear that I'm a veterinary technician ONLY, and a damned good one at that.  You should be so lucky as to have me giving a moment's thought to the health and well-being of any animal of yours.

@ MIchael Cox, I'm as appalled as you at that statement regarding 'making' a bad set of hips appear good via positioning and muscle fatigue from over-manipulation of the joints; and under NO circumstances should ANYONE ever feel as if they have to apologize or feel badly for performing their due diligence as a buyer, and putting the breeder 'through the wringer' before purchasing a puppy [or an adult dog, for that matter].  In an ideal world, you'll be spending 13 or more years with the dog in your family...you owe it to that dog to know EVERY possible piece of information available on it, it's parents, and so on.  And any breeder that would deny you that information is one to be avoided at all costs.

But once the buyer has done his or her homework, and made their decision, there's a limit to how much they ought expect of the breeder if the pup is on the losing end of the genetic lottery for heritable conditions.

So looks like most of you  did not go and do the homework I gave you...so typical but you want to have big mouths on this forum...

From the homework I did, a popular dog " FURO KAMOS CS" has "a" hips and so does his parents.
BUT when I looked at his direct progeny and grand progeny, the little that I did see was disturbing. See below

1- Joanro bred these two dogs Axel vom Ron OFA Good hips; no elbow ratings shown       Adela vom Ron No hips OR elbow ratings shown  The Sire of these two has Fair hips and the Dam has Good hips...To me thats putting a noch zuchalagen to a fast normal....wishful thinking Joanro.....

2- Ethel vom Grimorkie OFA Fair and no Elbow rating

3- Grace z AlpineK9 (Daughter to Joanro's Adela vom Ron)  No ratings shown...Why???

4- Nelis z Jirkova Dvora  CMKU/ 68039/07 Hip: B/D - Elbows: 1/2 (for those that don't know a hip score B/D is terrible by any standard)

5- Body jipo me Hips Fair no Elbow rating shown

6- Diamond van den Heuwel Hips Fair no Elbow rating shown

The aove is just an example of doing research, Furo Excellent ( a ) and both his parents excellent. See the results and this was just a quick browse through...

I therefore choose not to mention the parents names as the people I know should rather permit me first...
It also shouldn't look like they are putting this msg out there b'cos they are not...
I know about it and am trying to caution people...

The reason I used Furo... he is common in both the peoples dogs pedigrees...
Given the little browsing I did, there have been many health issues coming up recently from these "famous breeders"...search the web and see (homework)...
One gets the feeling that both Jiri and Hans know the problems in some of their breeding stock but still continue using them over and over...
