Speaking of bringing out the nasty in a dog which is by nature a 'nice' dog, can create a dog which ends up living a very restricted life. I have a young dog here right now that I got back when his owner died. When the dog left here as a nine month old, he was social and very stable around people. After fifteen months of unbalanced training, this dog is unsafe around anyone but me. His life now is so restricted, that I can't take him in public. I also cannot turn him loose with me for walks because if we were to meet up with anyone, he would want to bite. He doesn't know when aggression is appropriate because of his 'training'. I have my work cut out for me, and I know I won't turn him around overnight..just too many months of defense only work. I'd rather have him the way he was before, and I know that this is not natural aggression he has towards people, but manmade.
