Apparently you have not been paying attention to this or other threads Sunsilver. Form following structure is often a mantra recited by working line / sport enthusiasts to excuse not showing their dogs in a conformation show. The assumption is since they work or just own a dog from one of these pedigrees that automatically translates into a perfect structure. But the function through repeated generations rarely if ever is of sufficient scale to prove the form. I don't know why anyone would marginalized a group of people that spend a majority of their time working their dogs just because they are trying to live up to the total concept of the breed. SV style conformation shows do test a dog's structure as far as endurance is concerned.

Actually, it has nothing to do with any excuses for not showing. Form follows function can be applied to all breeds and for that matter, species. Even birds' form follows function.

FYI The mantra "form follows function" is not limited to dog breeding. In art, it is also the basis for all architectural design. But, I think the concept is most easily understood about dogs, when one considers some of the more bizarre shaped ones, like the dachshund. If one ever gets confused about what comes first, think of that breed, and it all begins to make perfect sense.

Conformation shows do not test a dogs endurance, maybe the AD test does, but conformation shows in no way really test endurance.
