http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=498749 i think this is about as "stacked "  as they should be.........this i believe is ok.......i've seen even better then that...where the left hind leg is parallel with the right hind leg...

but this is good though...........

There is a huge difference between the truly natural "stacks" below:
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=250
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=33
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=56
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=920
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=26783

and the typical un-natural poses they call as "natural stacks" nowadays.

What the dogs do naturally is not what one sees in the show-ring.  If that stretched pose is "natural", then my name is mickey-mouse.

where the left hind leg is parallel with the right hind leg...

That's a four square stack...it's not how our breed is exhibited

Parallel is not necessarily next to.  If one leg is further back, still straight, but a bodywidth apart, that is still correct.  Most GSDs stand in that position on the alert, how far back one hind leg is depends on the angulation.

There is a common theme in many recent posts. It is that the GSD world is doing things wrong. Some post insinuate everything is wrong others that certain directions are problems. I would not comment on ''the elephant'' without first takeing a walk around the whole animal. Spending a few days with a herd of elephants and then maybe another herd before I questioned the Elephant. [ remeber the blind students? ]                                                                                                  The stacked pose of the GSD should demonstrat where the back leg strikes the ground in motion, then the assembly  pushes the GSD forward - then where the foot leaves the ground. just as important is the function of the shoulder but it can not be observed as easy with a photo. Really a dog must be seen in motion to evaluate structure [ prefered on a loose leash] Imagine a dog with more rear function then front. Balance is more important in structure than any piece. Conformation is the way a dog gets to its JOB                                                                                                                                                     I have a friend educated in bovine studys. He worked on a gentleman's farm with Black Angus cattle. They have a national organization and a magazine for this breed of cattle and there are other breeds who do the same. In the magazine were bulls in show poses with blue ribbons in their halters. It listed blood lines and show wins. It also had information such as how much weight the offspring of this prized bull had by such and such an age. Other  breed magazine had information on cow's milk production........... function!!!!!!!!  Stop looking at the pictures and get involved!

Previous posts are not making sense.  These dogs are not STACKED differently they ARE different.  Do you really think you can make any GSD look like any other or make them all look the same because of how they are stacked?!

These dogs are stacked THE SAME.  Front legs perpendicular, right rear toes beneath the penis, left hock perpendicular.  They look different because they are different dogs, not different stacks!!
