"But I really like my kind of dog the best." LOL. And wouldn't life suck if you really liked every body else's kind of dog the best? LOL.

..."no threat...so no desire to fight". If a dog doesn't perceive a threat, why would a sensible dog get worked up into fight drive? Cheap shots to the hind legs don't make sense.

Paul,
Being in the sport and training both sport and service dogs over the years gives a person a level of experience and perspective. Going to Germany numerous times and visiting various working kennels and LGA's gives a person some insight imto what is popular and why some breedings are done. None of that is to make anybody look bad or myself look better, it just show's the perspective I view things from. It is an unbiased viewpoint, not one of a puppy buyer. If you really wanted a hard dog and knew what one really was you would've shopped a little harder and done some more homework before buying a puppy from the pretty dog. It's easy to place the blame on the helper in the brief video clip but a hard dog brings the fight. Nothing the helper does could deter a real dog or make him look bad. The dog was straining for the prey object, the sleeve, he didn't give two craps about the man. Again that's no knock on Bomber, it is what it is. Someone gives his honest opinion about a dog that he has worked that is different than all of the lemmings and he get's attacked. Oh, he wasn't a good enough helper, oh he fed the dog the sleeve, oh he had a stripe on his pants that distracted the dog. Have you or any of the others who have drank the Kool-Ade ever worked Bomber? Paul, when you took bites from him what did you think? You all were so quick to attack someone (NWA MIKE) who has taken bites from him, I was wondering what your experience with working him was. Here's a real dog for you, Hudson von der Kalten Hardt BSP 08', right here in the Midwest. Go try him and compare the two since you want a real dog. I guarantee it won't cost you the same. The bottom line is don't try to make the dog into something he's not. He is a big, pretty, solid black, Vito son who bites really hard. No one would dispute those facts. As you can see by my 34 posts in 3 years registered on this site, I normally do not engage in this type of foolishness but this topic flipped the switch. I spend most of my time training and getting dogs ready, not behind a keyboard.

I wasn't going to critique the helper's work in the video, it was quite obvious he
lacked in presence and skill. The skill may develope over time, the presence will
not. A helper either has "it" or they don't. It cannot be learned or taught.

Over the years, I am sure anyone who has been around for a day or two has actually
witnessed a powerful dog literally walk away from a helper. The dog doesn't do it because
it's scared, the dog does it because it doesn't have a lick of respect for the helper, in other
words, it doesn't sense any sort of threat or challenge from the helper. Bomber appeared to
simply go through the motions with the this one, very half heartedly, but I certainly don't
fault the dog for that. The dog appears to have read the helper better than the helper read
the dog.

Well thanks a lot fools. I just a got a call from Russ warning me about the possibility of other people, who have vested interest in Bomber, being a danger to my life (threat). lol?
He, also, banned me from ever coming to visit him again, which includes access to really super tracking grounds. Now that pisses me off!

Like I told Russ, Bomber isn't a bad dog... he just isn't spectacular. They have super females though, and that bomber son, miles ahead of bomber in the work.

mike
I doubt Russ has ever threatened anyone in his life.

Well Well Well Paul, Once again you haven't done your research well enough because Mike has been in the sport for over a year and he has titled a dog to at least IPO 2. I know him personally and have trained with him before. He did the trial helper work for my IPO 1 male when I trialed in Arkansas a couple of years ago. Check the facts before you open up your mouth and insert foot. Anyway don't try to use the helper as an excuse for a dog being what he is. A good dog will fire up on a totally passive subject, i.e.; the guarding in an IPO event. Passive helper in the blind, better fire up or lose some points. Ever seen a good dog find a suspect hiding in a closet during a building search? The good ones fire up whether the suspect is passive or active. It comes from the dog, the helper only adds to it by their presence. You Bomberites crack me up.

Is Mike the same one who had a video posted not long ago of his own bitch
humping him during the retrieves at a trial? maybe it was training? I seem to
remember that being circulated with great amusement.

by nwamike on 06 April 2013 - 16:04

Yes, I am the one that circulated the video on facebook, to the tune of Barry White. Glad my videos are getting popular. I must say the bitch humping me in the trial was not so funny. But she's IPO2 now and will turn 3 in May. ;)
