The topic of Ivan and Ebor came up on the qualification trial topic which in now locked.
A video has been posted on the Ot Vitosha website
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wylPvmHDO4&feature=em-uploademail

Not the best angle but sure looks like a early turn to me?

Unfortunately for Ivan, the dog came fast but never left his feet until he was nearly under Marcus.

Very awkward but in slow frame you can see Marcus's sleeve presentation above his waist and the dog "launching" from beneath.

Bad luck,

If you watch the video the helper did not turn too early but the helper did jump about a foot in the air as he turned and that made the dog miss.  Dog in front of helper .. helper's feet on the ground and helper's knees bent .. as the helper turned he jumped straight up and made the dog miss below him by raising the sleeve about a foot vertically with the jump.  Watch the video .. it is there.  Ebor was not at fault as the helper jerked the sleeve away from him and gave him air to bite as he turned.

Oh boy, not the peanut gallery really gets to weigh in.  Unfortunate, but nothing was wrong.  He had an unlucky break that day, too bad it was at a championship.  The Helper is more than accomplished, a dog that is coming that fast and comes up from underneath is very tough to catch.  If anybody is going to critique the helper I want to see your video first.  There was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the quality or level of work that day.  Ivan caught a bad break,

Kevin,

I believe Ebor also trains for Ring sport.?  NOT launching 10 feet out is to avoid being esquived (decoy side stepping the dog).
I'm having computer problems and can't really slow down the video. Trying to stop and start  it looks like the decoy is turning early?
I don't think this is the ShellShot official video? I wonder if Shelly had a better angle?

The helper moved the sleeve vertically as the dog tried to bite .. is that supposed to happen regardless of where the dog launches??  If Ebor had launched 20 feet out and the helper raised the sleeve a foot would Ebor have still missed .. yep!!  May have been a bad break but not good helper work  .. the dog is reaching up for the sleeve as he goes under as it has suddenly moved up and was not where it was presented.

His mouth hit the sleeve, he had an opportunity to grip, he missed it.  You have no basis to evaluate a helper let along a catch.  You don't have a clue, yet it won't stop you from yammerin on.

Accomplished probably, perfect not likely. Let's see all the protection routines and not just cherry pick the good ones.
It was a bad "catch" and then he tripped over his own feet when Ebor re engaged. Ebor didn't  come in low then .

Did the sleeve move vertically as the helper turned .. yes and a bunch because he jumped about a foot higher than where he presented the sleeve in front.  The fact the dog touched it at all is astonishing.  If the sleeve had moved on a lateral plane from where it was presented the dog would not have missed.  I have a dog that will flip over on her back and try to get the sleeve upside down if you make that mistake so I have seen the dog trying to make up for vertical sleeve movement first hand.

and still the never will do's and couldn't catch a dog like that if they tried keep yammerin on.  I can guarantee  you're nowhere near perfect.  Ivan got unlucky that day.  it  happens, grow up and get over it.  Catch enough dogs like that and sometimes they aren't perfect.  I'd think Ivan would know that, he's been around long enough.  Unless of course you're claiming this was intentional???????????????????  In which case I think less of you than before.
