Marko...thank you! You are probably, right!! haha

I got a rare weekend off without being the shuttle to lacrosse or baseball games and we are not quite showready for her CDX (still polishing dumbbell retrieves)! Although, I still have to lay some tracks as soon as the heat lets up later in the day.....probably more for my benefit than hers!!

Although, I think the dogs I posted have nice, functional conformation and I hope breeders of similar dogs will chime in.....and yes, I have been toa Sieger show, visited both WL and SL, been to AKC Specialty/All-Breed shows, competed in UKC Shows in conformation and AKC trials in Performance, and been on several IPO training fields training and I still like the conformation of the dogs I posted the best. Go figure!

Jenni you are correct

Smiley where were those pictures taken of those dogs. I mean what type or location of the shows. Look in that city or state and type of show and you may find what you are looking for I can't help because I just can't see what you are seeing as for as type of dog.
I guess if you have been to all those places and can't find what you are looking for Then yes it is Go Figure

Well, apparently, I like the type of german shepherd that is no longer bred. I like the old fashion, classic type of build that these dogs represent. I am not shocked in the least that, so far, people do not seem to have the same preferance as I do in german shepherd type. I know what I like and what I grew up with and I think that type of dog is proper german shepherd type. Maybe...just maybe.....the breeders of these dogs realized that the german shepherd world has become a joke with the extreme angulation and extreme sport drives....and maybe they have exited the scene and don't participate in forums or german shepherd shows. Maybe..They just quietly go about breeding correct dogs that have proper german shepherd type, temperament, health, and working ability...dogs that are balanced and moderate in build and drives...dogs that are equally at home in the show ring, performing in an athletic event, or being with their family as an outstanding companion dog. Maybe...just maybe....these breeders breed for the TOTAL dog and do not specialize in sport or show and as a result of not chasing ribbons or points end up with dogs that both groups think are inferior but who, in reality, embody everything a german shepherd should be- the true standard. Hmmm.

Well, hang in there, maybe you'll hear from some GSL breeders by Monday. I really don't know of many who read this forum anymore, but you never know.

Don't know that they have  dogs that look much like these, but they do have GSLx that are able to do a lot.

Re. the Von Ward dogs: WHY do breeders of old-fashioned straight-backed shepherds all seem to think a GSD should weigh at least 100 lbs??? Yes, even the FEMALES!!

[sigh]
