Anyone seen the latest from Linda Shaw's website? It's a must-read!http://www.shawlein.com/2014/evaluate-this/

Also, her two most recent blog posts look at the structure of the German show line dog's spine:

http://www.shawlein.com/2016/yes-seriously/

She also has a new book out, which is going on my birthday wish-list! :D

I have her book

Shawlines drawings are still very inaccurate, influenced too heavily by her opinion. She makes the sketches to reflect her adjectives, not reality. I believe her to be way off in the neck area and wrong in the transitional vertebrae. These sketches are still cartoons. Show me X-rays if you want to be scientific.

Sunsilver's image of the German dog on page 8 incorrectly states that it is harder for a German dog to get its hind leg under it than it is for an American dog. In the image on page 8 the dog is going around a corner and avoiding a stake in the ground, all while drawing a human behind.

Spell check caught me, that was supposed to be dragging not drawing

Markobytes,

I believe most of those who have written about the GSD using sketches and diagrams, copied and pasted those diagrams from earlier few writers adding slight modifications to justify their individual beliefs. Those few earlier writers had mistakes in their drawings that we still, till this date, find allover the net.
Seeing x-rays is believing

Glad someone is able to see this... thank you, Marko

That one image of Cristal on page 9 does not seem to match her gait on video. Cristal is deep in the rear but she seems to move very powerfully without wasted motion. She does not appear to land on her hocks while gaiting. Notice how little her back moves.

Markobytes, I have a series of pictures of that same dog gaiting. The pictures below will show he is having to throw the knee out sideways in order to get his foot under his body. It's more exaggerated in the photo you are referring to, but it's still very obvious in the photos where he's trotting straight ahead. Note in the photo immediately below, how the foot is twisted to the side, instead of impacting the ground squarely. Compare with the picture of VA1 Bodo trotting.

The above picture is the one Markobytes is referring to.

Are you two even talking about the same animal ?
Sunny's pix show a male, and the magicon photo
(top of last three shots) for definite depicts a male -
with the same problematic movement, no Ring corner
and no marker post.
Markobytes refers to "Cristal" / "she".

Susie is clearly talking about the first dog - and yes,

it looks like the same dog to me;  not sure which

photo / animal Marko means !
