Just curious as to who still breeds hard truly civil GSDs , many I've spoken to say the real hardness has been bred out of GSD and almost everyone breeds for sport and even police dogs Arent that hard anymore !?

I have had supreme results crossing Max van Tiekerhook lines with Faro Policia lines. Be careful what you wish for.

Shawnicus, many that talk have very limited exposure to what they talk about....but everyone is entitled to an opinion.

First off you have to describe what your meaning of "Hard" and "Civil" is...Too many people have different descriptions of these terms...
I totally agree with the statement: "Be Careful What You Wish For"...

agree with bob, too many different ideas of what hard is , I have several breedingfemales that are hard on handlercorrections, hard as they can be pressiured enormously in the fight, and they are civil, but still normal and social dogs, which I think is good

some people think a dog that attacks the handler after a harsh correction are hard, so each to his own

Daryl
can you elucidate?: "Be careful what you wish for."

Serious/truly civil GSD are said to be extremely rare...yet everyone that's on an internet forum has one...

I think most folks want a dog that will actually bite in a serious way....

I have to agree whole heartily with Q and Duke. And yes be careful what you ask for. Give me a dog with nice balance, strong and sociable and you can do any work you want with him. Too many people use words like "Hard" Civil" Real" Be sure what you want and how to impart that to people.

Why speak cryptically?
What does a " very hard and civil " dog do, such that we have to be " careful what we wish for"?
Can somebody address this
