Jenni
Thank you very much!
I feed Dr, Clauders Lamb and rice .
When should I check hyroid panel, not just a T4 test. and progesterone and estrogen levels.
If you can give me a time table will be great ,I appreciate very much.

I too had my 2 female GSD's not conceive after 2 cycle attempts with each having progesterone levels well above the 2.0 minimum, bleeding, swollen vulva, multiple ties with the males, what would be considered as text book ready for conception. I also used 2 different males whose semen was microscopically examined by my local vet and considered excellent. I feed TOTW High Prairie formula. My question is, would phytoestrogens effect the progesterone levels thus preventing conception. If the female is producing progesterone levels 2.0 or higher and not conceiving are the food ingredients, peas etc... still a potential problem? Thanks

Totw has a lot of legumes, more than most dog foods. I fed it several years ago, changed feed because my females would not conceive. Or they would abort soon after conception. No problems since going off totw.

joanro, I used to feed my dogs totw and have recently switched, but I was wondering what dog food you have yours on? I have had dogs not conceive in the past and I want to make sure I have them on proper food. Is earthborn holistic ok?

I use Victor Hi-pro Plus. 87% meatprotien source

I just got a bag of Victor Nutra Pro....first two ingredients are meat, with five meats. 90% protient source meat, 5% plant protein source 5% seed source. I like the ingrient list a bit better than the Hi-Pro , but I've had good results with the hi-pro plus for a couple years.

Look at this and compare to protein source of the Victor above...

I have *read* (I say read and not experienced myself) bitches failing to conceive on extremely high protein foods. As Victor Hi-Pro Plus has way too much calcium for large breed pups, I have used Nutra Pro for mom. Kept weight on well during pregnancy and lactation. However, she was not fed that until midway into the pregnancy- ie, not during conception. She was on Farmina low grain prior and first litter conceived 9 pups.

Petoasis, I don't think timing matters so much on a thyroid panel.

Where did you find the calcium for victor?

What was the ratio calcium/potasium?
