Hi:

I have had GSDs for a long time, but my current dog is a Czech/DDR dog, (pedigreee not entered, because I am blind and having some issues), and I am curious if people can show me other examples of good Czech/DDR peds and bad ones and give reasons as to why for each? This is not about dog bashing. My dog is a service dog and personal protection dog and I would like to produce progeney that are the same or can be used in law enforcement. I want to stay away from the sport side of thing because I'm just not into that, but it is cool to watch.

You better go to the western lines there is more choice and more knowledge worldwide about
proven pedigree what they  have produced,,.. personal I have never seen any DDR or Czech GSD what impressed me why they are so special?.

DDR or that border patrol Czech lines are over hyped on social media IMO by clever marketing people for the $$$.... But in the US they like this dogs for any reason.....

Blackmal, don't diss my dogs! Ok? ;-)
The reason I like them is they are sane and work!

Here are two from my breedings. Totally different litters...the first dog is a 22 month old female. Second dog is a 3 year old male...training yesterday.

Same two dogs with their family...

LOL @ blackmal  not so many different lines in west german dogs anymore, as they are all mixed up with mostly the same dogs, LOL all outcrossed, but lost most individual lines.

most Czech breeders did the same, all bred to same names, known for being well trained Wink Smile

main thing is if you look for the  "best "you have to ask yourself, best for what purpose, and that can give different answer for different individuals

Blackmal....Czech dogs are mostly hyped? I have seen soooo many good Czech dogs that were excellent LE or working dogs in past twenty years ( hundreds and hundreds) besides having bred them for 15 years that I find your comments quite fascinating. Of course it’s possible that my understanding of a good working dog does not meet what your criteria is....but I think I’ve seen a few working dogs in my day. I’ve also bred quite a few Czech or Czech/DDR litters and I got good working stock that did LE, sport, and obedience/family....🤷‍♀️

Btw, I also bred and imported German lines that worked from seventies to mid nineties, and though I feel there are some good German working lines, there are many lines of German dogs today I find lacking....but again that’s just me and I know there is plenty I haven’t seen!

amen Gustav, old Czech lines bring good LE dogs but they almost never end up in the netherlands, so blackmal never gets to see one LOL
