GSDPACK

Actually I love it. It gives me more things to do and a little different aproach. But: sometimes bad grips transfer to the sleeve but I have seen the other way around also, great grips transfered to the suit work. Suit is very different in bites tan sleeve.

It makes my dogs think. Schutzhund is hard if it wasnt all of us would be competing at the national level right?
PSA gives me the opportunity to see what my dogs can do, it is still sport but people who do any sports with the dogs know that you can do what the hell you want to with your dog if the dog has the temperament, drive and willingnes to work...

Kevin Walsh had a dobe (SCH3) that he put a PSA 1 on.
I would say you could do either sport but you must have the correrct foundation on the dog. I would do Sch first then PSA. I am a helper/decoy for both sports and enjoy both very much but I will tell people to put a SCH foundation on the dog first, you will get better results.

Bruno, Kevin Walsh's Dobe (Sch3 & PSA1), was an awesome dog!
Bruno lived in Kevin's home also as a family pet and protector.
This dog was the real deal in every way.
I was fortunate enough to see Kevin and Bruno train a number of times.
When Bruno walked on the field everyone took a step or two back.
I loved the air of confidence that dog put forth. A true warrior!
Kevin is a great person and great photographer also!
R.I.P. Bruno!!!

But he was still a Dobermann and I guarantee you that his SchH scores were just blah, barely SG, probably only G.  Yech.

Hi all. This link was sent to me by a friend. It warms my heart to know that Bruno is well remembered by some in the working dog community. We were very lucky to fall in with a group of friendly and knowledgable people who helped us quite a bit. Thanks for the kind words.

Every breed has something to offer to someone. I am a lover of all dogs, with a particular penchant for the working breeds.

Any trainer that takes the time to take a dog to a SchH3 and a PSA1 should be given a strong pat on the back rather than a negative comment.

Can anyone post the video with GSD doing PSA?

by Duderino on 27 January 2011 - 15:01

Every one is entitled to an opinion.  When you say "any", that paints with a pretty broad brush.  If someone is going to broadcast how "outstanding" a dog is, or put videos of how "outstanding" their dog/training is, then they better be able to accept criticism, or don't post/say it.  I have seen plenty of dogs (of varying breeds) that reached SchH3 but in actuality, were crappers.  Just because you can limp through a SchH3 at a club trial does not make your dog suitable for the Hall of Fame.  A minor league MVP that never made it to the big leagues is still a minor league MVP.  Want to back up the statement? Show us some scores.  I'm guessing club trials on home field.

P.S.  It's still a Dobermann
