Liesjers, you are very correct. This is where I have made many mistakes in the past, buying dogs sight unseen.

I think it is most of the time a mistake, unless one knows absolutly who they are dealing with. Very often I thought only of the money wasted, but also it ended up being very unfair to the dog,

So, now I always go and see and as you say, put my hands on the dog. I'm choosing something that will hopefully be with me for years. Putting out a little extra money in the beginning is absolutely nothing compared to the next several years of being satisfied with your choice.

My Second pup was from Belgium from Mike Worrall I had a deposit on him 4 months before the litter was made. at 8 weeks he was sent to me thru  Ed Freer I was given references for Ed form the D.O.J. of U.S.A. Axel came as stated and was all I asked for. My Next purchase of a dog not seen was from Jessy Gabriel From Texas I talked to her told her what I wantted and she sent me Fiest again every thing I wantted with out regard. Knowing what you want before you search and checking out the people you deal with is the biggest part of the equasion. Or maybe i,m just the luckiest S.O.B. on the planet?

I pretty much read but don't post much anymore.  There used to be quite a few moderators but people got upset about that when they were told to follow the rules.  I prefer not to see all the bs, politics, nude pictures, constant cussing that used to occur on here.  Don't know if it's still going on as I don't come here much any more because of it. I see there are still a bunch of free for alls, no thanks, I have better things to do than participate in that.

Oh and when someone who has no idea who you are or what your experience is, insults you and tells you to move on when you ask a simple question, you wonder why people the old people no longer post?  See ya.

Rik, on this part of the forum ,if Oli could require info and titles it would allow breeders to cut threw what and who you want to answer, but let a newbie do the research we want before asking questions, that get off track of pedigrees. The rest should be on the other part as I dont come here for a love feast or rescue sight but do believe in those topics, their are alot of other sights for that ,but learning bloodlines and handling is hard work and time consuming, I hoped this split would allow for this, but now it seems it just split the same stuff

Hello Bob, I did take your advice to "chill out".

And I thank you for it.  It was very good advice.

Also, someone who is able to locate a good breeder in Belgium and bring over a good puppy is a "serious" person, dog wise. So make all the humor you wish, but only "serious" people make this kind of investment in time and finances.

I will try to stop hopping around like a Chihuahua when the door bell rings.

Best,

Rik

he's talking about Shak Williams, owner of Rikah haus gsd and co-owner of V Ork vd Werther-Muhle SCH3

YR, Uber is correct.

Shak is a very knowledgeable owner/breeder of German S/L in the U.S.

He is also in Texas.

His dog "Ork" is one of the top examples of "work/anatomy" that one will find in the U.S of the German S/L..

I have seen this dog in the "hair" and he is fantastic as compared to anatomy/character available in the U.S.

Also, if one cares to study pedigrees, his mother line is outstanding.
