Pups from CR between $700-800 to ATL depends on if departing from Prague or Amsterdam. Amsterdam will mostly likely involve an overnight stay. Prague will have a connection, usually in NY. From Germany closer to $900 direct on Lufthansa. Adults $1100 – 1300. I had good experience with Petr Novotny, the guy Duke mentioned in CZ.

I’ve used Ellen Chance as a broker for years. You don’t need one in Atlanta, you just get your papers (hopefully in the right order) and drive a mile down the road to customs. Problems come with late and delayed arrivals when customs is closed or they have issue with your paperwork. That’s where is nice to have Ellen take care of it so there’s no hiccups and your dog won’t have to stay overnight.

As Centurian mentioned, flying over is an option. Dirt cheap right now from ATL to Prague. Less than $650 with one week stay required. But add in room, food, transportation and it starts adding up unless you have a friend to stay with. But as he said, you get to use more than a picture or video to see what you’re getting. I read the same scam reports he does and shake my head in disbelief. Do you your homework and preferably have someone help you with it. Good luck and hope to hear to you had a good experience!

Just curious as to why this dog is so appealing to you. How close of a relationship do you have to the owner of the dog? How have you evaluated the dog to determine it meets your needs. Personally, if you are buying a green dog, I think your odds of getting what you want are better to buy from the states. I don't know if you are looking at working or show lines. Generally, buying outside the country where you can't directly evaluate/see the dog, unless you have a very good relationship with the seller and can totally trust him/her, they are going to send you the dog they want you to have more than what you want to have.

some things one should understand, animals to fly is handlingcompany, they dont decide what box your dog is shipped in, its chosen by seller/shipper of dog, and if not accepted by airline it has to be changed by airlinerequirements

United is the worst airline when it comes to animal transport, they will require dogs to be shipped in oversized(wooden) boxes and so does lufthansa/shipping from germany

 

Duke, I am very surprised to hear what you have to say and what you have experienced about Lufthansa and United. I have brought many dogs from Germany over the years and I have NEVER seen a wood box. Only Varikennels of the proper size. And while I cannot speak to the facilities at other cities, I can tell you that in Chicago both United and Lufthansa are first class cargo facilities and the help is quite experienced. KLM on the other hand, shares with Air France and Alaska Air and their cargo facility and their help are terrible. Not clean, not experienced. Dogs are dragged out on the ground on wooden boxes not carefully wheeled out. If not picked up immediately, they are left in their box, not walked, not watered. When I was there last year, the help seemed to know nothing about dogs. Just recently, I brought a female GSD from Frankfurt with United. The kennel was the right size, clean. When I picked up the dog, I was delayed, they had taken her for a walk, given her water and a soft bed in her kennel. You could not ask for more. As I have never brought a dog from the Czech Republic, I cannot speak to what they do.

Paying a broker was ABSOLUTELY the best money I ever spent, I wouldn't conceive of trying it with out a broker. Everything went 100% perfect.... this guy Pavel is the epitome of a professional !

klossbruhe, I ship dogs every week or every other week, but understand that each persons individual experience can be different, it is allways about the person who works there that day

For whatever it is worth , and my intentionis not to plug for any airline. I agree with Klossbruhe about Lufthansa - my personal experience _ I have flown back and forth with GS from USA to Germany , Germany to USA , and they were super transporting my GSs. Other occasions , oending where I was in Europe , I have used other airlines too , such as Iceland Air .
