rake, you bred to a proven producer that you obviously researched carefully, paid top price and apparently got top puppies.
congratulations, that's doing it the right way.

as stated before, there are never any guarantees but choosing stud dogs with a proven record can tilt the scales some what.

This is all the kind of information I was hoping to hear.

It would be ludicrous of me to even consider asking top tier pricing for an unproven male and that was never my intention. I would like to price him reasonably so as not to under value him, but I do have the benefit of waiting to see how he produces with the couple of litters already planned, and then see what to do about the remaining breedings I have collected.

I do not intend to collect him any further. I have 8 breedings unspoken for which is plenty. If he produces well then there are options and using the information and variables I've heard about here I can make decisions.

Thank you, everyone.

RL, just a few comments from someone not a lot of "real" GSD experience. but several decades putting my GSD out in public and not just making noise.

It seems you have a very good base in Fracka, as voiced by a few posters with that knowledge. Hopefully, you can find the correct females to carry those traits forward. Honestly, this would be my goal rather than netting a little cash.

maybe there are breeders out there who want to concentrate on Fracka and will be interested. If they had very promising females, $ would be the bottom of my list. How about pick puppy?

I did 3 AI when I was breeding. none took. so I'm a little cynical of this method.

best,

The rule of thumb used to be that the stud fee was the average cost of a pup +/-, with the condition that more than one pup is whelped.
AI would be the average cost of a puppy+/-, plus vet services and shipping.
