"Beech Knoll Kennels [Harry G. Meyer, Cincinnati, OH] announce the safe arrival of their new importation, Arkus von Blasienberg, a product of the famous Blasienberg Kennels, winners at the recent Stuttgart show of the Breeders Prize for the best kennel of Shepherds.
     Arkus was whelped Feb. 9, 1920, and is sired by Curt von der Morgensonne, the well-known son of Alex von Westfalenheim; his dam is Alma von Sparenwiesen [Sparwiesen], a grand-daughter of Horst von Boll and Ch. Falko von Sharenstetten. His breeding is a strong combination of  Horst von Boll and Starkenburg strains, his pedigree showing the illustrious names of Ch. Hettel Uckermark, Ajax von Hohenstein, Ch. Arno v d Eichenburg, Ch. Erich von Grafrath and Tell von der Kriminalpolizie. The puppies sired by him in Germany are showing exceptional bone strength and type.
     Arkus is a big upstanding dog, 27 inches at the shoulder, with a tremendous lot of style and action. He has the ideal Shepherd conformation and shows a splendid gait and movement, with the long reaching stride that is typical of the perfect Shepherd. His color is most attractive, a bright golden tan shading into white on the under parts and topped oft' with a jet black saddle.
     Since he is only a youngster he has only been shown twice in Germany before starting for America, at Constance and Freiburg, taking a number of special prizes. Judge Friederich's comments regarding him were "High class, faultless conformation and movement, excellent head and expression." The Beech Knoll Kennels will shortly place him at stud."
