:(  What a sad ending to a very sad situation.  Hopefully mama and babies got picked up by AC or a rescue.  Are these the same people w/white puppies now? http://bakersfield.craigslist.org/pet/3535293441.html

The crate looks very similar.

Karen has come after me a few times, interfered in at least one rescue I was trying to accomplish. To this day I have no idea where the dog went. In my opinion Marjorie is spot-on in her assessment of the woman. She is the single reason why we no longer post anything at all about dogs we have wheels in motion to save until they are safely out of the shelter, even though it means we don't post chip-ins or ask for funds, and so don't get many donations nowadays, while Karen DEMANDS $425. to commit to pulling a single dog, in advance.

I wish the woman would just find something else to "save", like maybe Killer Bees, Ebola-infected monkeys, you get the picture.

BTW- Rescue efforts don't come with an instruction manual. A lot of it is learned on the job.

Maybe things could have been handled differently, but to try to make someone that bends over backwards to help these poor dogs is just "wrong".
And no, the admin should not be blamed for enforcing the TOS. I have seen many PM's that were posted removed.
I myself happen to like a little "law and order" put in place here.
God only knows how many times it certainly was called for.

Wow I guess I missed out on what was going on. I've been holding my pledge waiting.....then I saw messages posted here. Sorry Marjorie that after your hard work, things turned out badly. I have no idea who Karen Parks is......

I don't get your comments Rlhar implying that there was something illegal going on. The owner was going to sell the dog so I don't get that. And your comment:

"Consider taking this unfortunate outcome and educating yourself on the rules and laws for dogs deemed to be in danger.  Also review your access to resources, immediate and otherwise and how you can make organized, decisive responses to dire situations without clouding the issue with emotional confusion and unknown variables."

Again.....if the owner was going to sell the dog what's the point of this remark. I have watched dogs near death waiting for AC. Anyone that waits for them is a fool. Feel free to inform us in the state of CA or NV (where I am) just what the rules are and laws that will protect the dogs.....I am happy to wait. I might need the info down the road.

I did learn one very important thing in all this. ALOT of people will comment and remark about an issue such as this. Some will even point fingers and blame you for not doing something fast enough, to the right people etc BUT THEY THEMSELVES DO NOTHING. I read comments from FB blaming someone else that was my post, name calling, and yet again they themselves did nothing.

It's really easy to sit on your computer and make snide comments to posts when in fact you don't have to even back them up. Someone can just spew shit out and not think another thing of it. I can at least say that Marjorie stepped and TRIED. Ok so it didn't work, but its a hell of alot more than just about anyone else can say including me!

I want to add, what happened here with this dog, is a really ugly side to rescue. Ive always said, if rescues can come together and be a force of one, we could be one hell of a force to deal with. But somewhere along the way, many rescuers get caught up in the EGO and loose track of what this is all about. I often remind myself of that.

RLHAR, rather than telling Marjorie how she SHOULD N'T have done things,
maybe you should lay out the improved course that you think should have been
taken, (so we can all benefit from  20/20 hindsight  ?).   Its all very well telling
someone that they got it wrong,  but you need to be constructive too !

Seems to me telling someone they should have 'reviewed and assessed'
better, when you have no more idea of the extent to which Marjorie and others
were going, 'off board', than I or anyone else but them does, doesn't cut it.

Sounds like things were progressing ok, until this third party blundered into the
act.  Who is to say she would not have 'got wind' of the rescue attempt WITHOUT
the Facebook publicity, and still interfered ?

RLHAR

by RLHAR on 15 February 2013 - 16:02

I did say Hundmutter.

She should have worked privately with resources/people she trusts who were within range to help the dog or better yet worked with the proper authorities to get an assessment of the situation and be ready to offer foster/aid if the dog and puppies were confiscated.

Instead everything was blasted all over public social media sites where anybody and everybody could see and dive in and that is exactly what happened, with the outcome being that nothing got done because everybody was pushing and pulling in different directions.

Hundmutter

by Hundmutter on 15 February 2013 - 18:02

Obviously you didn't read Marjorie's reasons for not contacting
Animal Control ...

Doesn't seem to me everyone was 'pushing and pulling in opposite
directions' until the point where this Karen Parks butted in. [ She a
friend of yours, RLHAR ? ]
