Hi There, was sorry to hear of your unwell puppy! hope hes on the mend!!. We purchased a chocolate lab from Dominic and his wife last year!. Charlie Brown will be a year old on the 18Th of May. He is a beautiful dog! we couldn't wish for a better temperament in a family pet . We have had no problems with Charlie apart from him having mites when first purchased but we were covered by pet plan so wasn't a issue! unfortunately things do happen and all kinds of illness can strike animals as well as humans. In your case u are lucky as you are protected by insurance! and Dominic has agreed to pay back the costs!  there's not much else that he could do, he can only do so much!. Charlie was checked and passed the vet checks before he was released to me!. So regardless the issue with the mites situation! there would of been no point me ringing Dominic to make this issue known to him as we were covered by pet plan and as i say these things happen! yes its disappointing to say the least! but once they leave the breeding seller then the puppy is your sole responsibility!. Yes in your situation it must be so upsetting watching a puppy go down hill so dramatically! Your right to query this with the seller and i think Dominic dealt with this situation in  the correct way!!. To put this issue on the Internet telling people not to buy from this breeder is a bit of a negative point as there is probably many customers like us that are satisfied with our puppy's and the information and quality of service that we were given!. We went back today and purchased a Fox Red Lab from the same breeder!. The kennels and the premises are always spotless when we have visited always a friendly greeting upon arrival!. We also had the opportunity to see Charlie dad again!. I hope you solve your issue and i wish your puppy all the best!.
Regards Hayley

Hi all,
My husband and i bought a chocolate labrador bitch from Dominic at Churchill Wealden Sporting LTD in sept 07.
She was sired by Ravenspur Hugo.
I have read the write ups concerning this company but have to say 2 years down the line we are very happy with our purchace. she has had no health problems, and has really turned out a well formed good looking lab.I also use her as a working dog through the winter months on a local game shoot, at which she is comimg on in leaps and bounds!
At the time of purchase Dominic completed all her K C registration papers for us to which we promptly recieved  her papers through the post from the kennel club. so personally i couldn't fault the company.

Hi all,

Ive just been reading all the posts on here. I am glad to see that some of you have had good experiences with your puppies/dogs.

Personally I would not buy a puppy or dog that has not had health tests carried out and that i could not trace the history of my dog. It sounds like alot of you have had problems tracing your dogs history, and yes your dogs might be ok now but for how long?

I read an article today in DOGS TODAY magazine. It was about PUPPY FARMING!  A lady has spent over £23,000 on vet bills for her dog that is now 3 years old. Her dog suffers on a daily basis.

Some of you have been lucky, but my advice is STAY CLEAR of PUPPY FARMS they dont care about the dogs or the puppies,

I bought a puppy sired by RAVENSPUR HUGO & RAVENSPUR AMBER She was boron on 10 Nov 07.  A chocolate lab.  She was a beautiful dog and my pride and joy till she developed kidney failuire and had to be put down this year and just over a year old.  This was only found out in blood tests after she had been spayed.  I thought the vets had made a mistake with the spaying and something had gone wrong but the autopsy came back from the royal veterinary college that it was hereditary !  I contacted Dom and sent him all the paper work and he said his vet would look at it and do a report i also rang numerous times and he promised to send paper work reg his vets diagnosis but i gave up a couple of weeks ago and left with a £5000 vets bill just paid it.  I was insured but not for all of it !   He seemed so helpfull !!!!!  Im very dissapointed.   Had he of sent me the information he promised i wouldnt have written on this post but i feel v let down :-(

Just to follow on from my above comment the report said * renal dysplasias can occur in any breed, the causes are not well defined but are most likely to contain a hereditary component. *  Im not a vet and can only go on what im told but id hate to miss lead anyone or bad mouth someone i just joined the post as found it interesting other people had had problems to with the same breeder.  He did seem so nice and helpfull i really am dissapointed !

Hi

I came across this company, namely churchill wealden sporting ltd in faversham, been reading the negative things people have been writing about them

We have bought 2 puppies from him, 1 x female yellow lab now 6 months old and 1 x black bitch 8 weeks old yeasterday.

Wished to say how pleased we were with them, kennels spotless, able to see mum and dad, also all the paperwork was explained clearly to us before signing them.

this guy has been breeding for i believe nearly 30 years .

The other thing we liked was he was very helpful and always happy to answer questions.

I was sorry to hear about your chocolate lab, must have been very upsetting but hope your didnt mind me higlhy recommending these breeders who do everything possible to make sure the puppies born are from the best possible strain and pedigree.

When we went back we took our first puppy back where we recieved an extremely warm welcome, he had a litter of black labs, most of which he was going to keep for gundog training,we were very lucky he allowed us to have one of these pups.

He was very fussy who he sold his dogs too.

Sorry if ive rambled on a bit but wished to higlhy recommend these breeders and hope knowone has been put off going to dominic.

all the best

Hi
Not at all.  Im not saying there bad. I found them very helpfull i even went back for training but when i contacted Dom to explain about my puppy after she became ill he promised to do everything to help me  and we spoke at least 7 times when he promised to get his vet to do a report for me and nothing ever became of it so i believe i was just fobbed off !  Im not saying there bad i am saying that when a problem happens they seem to want to know but dont do what they say !!!
Of course im very dissapointed.  She was only 1 yr 3 months when she died.  Things like this happen i accept that but he should have done what he promised ot do after !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by ANTY on 01 June 2009 - 12:06

I have nothing whatsoever bad to say about the breeders i believe he breeds very good dogs and i was unfortunate.  These things happen. But if someone says they will do something then they should. Thats good customner service.  I did everything he asked me to do i even paid for a copy of all the vets notes & sent them all to him and he supposidly had his vet do me a report. Everytime i rang he said it was being sent and now after 2 months ive given up !  I would not be put off by buying a dog from him as i believe he does breed good dogs & i have recomended him in the past im just very very let down that he has strung me along & promised to do something he didnt.  Thats why i joined this post.  I would never every have written on here had he of just sent me what he promised.  I do hope i havent personaly put anyone off buying from him im just writting my personal experience.

Sorry to hear what has happened to you Anty, but no real surprise. This guy Dom's real name is John Vant. He might call himself Churchill Wealden now, but he used to call himself Vantoak. He has quite a reputation for selling dogs with illnesses. Forget claims of 30 years experience, complete nonsense. He and his wife have been heavily fined by Ashford Council in the past. Beware of what he says, Also on forums like this he has been known to post supporting entries to try to deflect attention.

HI

i brought a Labrador from a Mr john vant some years ago from his kennels near  Wye in ash ford Kent , a beautiful dog and still is , the problems refered  to he had with ash ford council was licensing , no more no less and had nothing to do with the dogs welfare  breeding or anything else for that matter i checked this out at the time of my purchase and was more than happy with him . john vant I  am now given to believe  lives in southern France . Friends of mine recently purchased a  labrador puppy from a company called Churchill wealden sporting limited and was served by a person called Dominic Bradley based at a kennels between ash ford and maid stone in Kent . they  asked me to go with them for support and advice , the puppy was lovely , the kennels spotless , and the paper work available to see and Dominic Bradley was most certainly not the  Mr john vant that I had met being very much younger in my opinion .

it seems to me that it is very easy to throw dirt and negatives whilst hiding behind a false name  and deliberately creating problems for the target , mostly i would assume caused through jealousy and ignorance , Dominic and or his company must be doing well .

my name for the record is Steven blundell i live in Rochester in Kent  and should anyone wish to speak to me my telephone is 07818442820   perhaps the other negative contributers would like to post their real names etc for the record .

Steven blundell
