Rottweilers are the most loyal, lovable and protective dogs. The reason why people have given them a bad name is because they need dicipline and a lot of love. Rottweilers can be stuborn, they require a lot of attention, socialization, obedience training and supervision, they are inclined towards dominance and will test for position in the family. Therefore a rottweiler is too much dog for many people, however they will respect an asertive owner who knows how to lead a strong-minded dog like the rottweiler. A lot of people buy rottweilers without doing their research on the breed, they buy them because rottweilers are beautiful dogs and as puppies they are very cute and fluffy. These  people dont realize that these beautiful playfull little puppies will grow and become these big large strong-minded dogs and because they are unprepared they don't know how to handle them and these poor dogs end up being agressive and distructive, they can even hurt someone if not properly trained. That is why people have given them a bad name, they blame the breed when in reality these poor dogs just fell on the wrong hands. These unprepared people, are NOT bad people, I'm sure their intention is to buy a puppy that will grow and become a good family pet, not knowing that owning a rottweiler is a big resposibility. Therefore, I believe that rottweiler breeders have the obligation to educate their buyers on the breed before letting the puppies go to their new family.

Most of the post as above are obsolutely correct. I too have one male rotts which is very well toned and socialized and keeping him with my 1 year and 7 year old kids. he is very possitive and affectionate even my little kid distub him. He used walk along with my sons if they walk on the road alone and he will keep going aside of my son and will bring them back. he is so kindly. It is only possible because i trained him and well socialized. do not shout, yelling, or dispoint for annything use the words no to say no and appreciate. keep train him and you will not find a good campanion as u have right now. Rotts are the best dogs in the planned and at the same time its the worst in the plannet if u do not train him properly.
