seen some videos and topics where people say or think the so called alpha roll will help them establish leadership over their dog,

even saw a video of USA borderpatrol performing such technique on a dog with foodagression,

dont know who ever came up with that, but its troubeling anyone would use that (especially agains food agression)

thoughts ?

The technique is controversial and there are different ways of performing it. Just like choke chains, prong collars, Martingales, head halters, Nylabones, cow hooves, etc. are controversial and there are different ways of using them.

Don't know the situation with the Border Patrol you mentioned, but it may be the dog would not listen when called off/told/corrected to leave/ignore/drop/wait for food/water. People put poisoned or boobytrapped food and water out for the Border Patrol dogs and other K9s all the time. The handler might have been been trying to prevent a tragic death. I wonder if the handler was the original handler or not, and what the specific history of the dog was... also, what the Kennel Master and/or K9 Supervisor/Commander/Master Trainer says goes in most government agencies in which the handlers do not own their K9 Partners. So, if that technique is the prescribed/suggested/allowed technique for the situation, that is what the handler would likely have done.

Sometimes, owners/trainers alpha roll Siberian Huskies that are extremely dominant and stubborn, for which nothing else has worked.

despite the effort, K9 Roy nonetheless retaliated the next day...twice, with 'bravo bites'.

My kind of dog. This is far more than resource guarding. You better know how to deal with, or plan on paying the price. Doing the alpha roll is not how you get this dog where you want him. Work with what's motivating him, not against it. Knowing the rigorous selection testing the dog goes through to enter the program, then seeing how he likes being in control, puts this dog in a very favorable light.

So uneducated and such old techniques...When you butt heads with a dog no one wins...
Good dogs get washed out because humans don't know how to handle and train them...

NOPE, not for me; have seen in done numerous times and have not seen one accomplishment that has come out of it. Terrible idea. Rather see numerous e-collar corrections done. BUT I want fairness in training done to my dog(s)… Not physical restraint or aggression by the trainer.

First time ive seen something like this, seems foolish its the equivalent of putting your finger up the dogs bumhole to dominate the dog
