| German Shepherd Dog | Hercules Chabet Police Dog | I tested, selected and helped trained Hercules (Herc) for police work. Intelligent and strong dog with perfect nerves, excellent drives and hardness. Excelled in tracking and other nose work. He had an outstanding reputation with other police officers and K-9 handlers alike. I ran as a backup officer on more than 50 of the perps he tracked down. Very dominate fighter with the suspect. The street bites I observed as a back-up officer were of a very committed dog with outstanding pressure and full hard grips. Suspects were very eager and quick to comply with the handler’s commands. I would take care of him when his handler when on vacation. He would sit with my youngest daughter while she put ribbons and bows in his fur. Always a favorite with the kids at public demos. I would often invite him and his handler to the college where I lectured to demonstrate the various applications of learning theories to the students. Herc retained a testicle that was removed at 8 years of age. He also suffered from an anal fistula that required weekly attention. He policed until he was 9 and lived to be 13 years old. One of the top ten police dogs I ever had the pleasure of working alongside. Very typical of the Cordon and Cir Vrtovske doliny lines. .... | 3.8 years ago |
| German Shepherd Dog | Dio Roy v Hardowin KNPV PH1 MET LOF | I was the police officer who handled K-9 Roy after he was imported into the USA. He developed a gracillis contracture (muscle in his rear leg contracted and would not release) which began to limited his abilities as a patrol dog. I trained him in explosives detection where he would not be required to sprint, climb fences, etc. so he could continue to serve in law enforcement with another handler. Roy had a solid character and was well balanced in his drives. Larger black and tan male with good bone and pigment. He learned quickly and was already tracking down criminals when the muscle injury occurred. Perfect around children and environmentally sound. | German Shepherd Dog | SG Agar z Pohranicni Straze (1989) ZM, ZVV1 | I tested and bred a female to Agar. He was a good size male and well put together. Had a rich, red sable coat. I had saw a video that had Agar’s sire in it (Gomo Schieferschlob) and it would have been almost impossible to tell them apart. Looks wise he was very typical of his sire. They even had the same powerful gait. I have no idea what Gomo was like on the bite, but Agar had a crushing and convincing grip on the suit. On one bite he was on my back and almost had teeth in my neck. A very vulnerable spot for the helper. I bred an Arys Travnickova dvora daughter to him back in the mid 90s. It was a litter of demons from hell. Had to separate them at four weeks to save ears and tails. A couple pups went with nicks missing from the ears. They were all hostile and relentless in trying to establish rank. A few would try to wage war with mom if she would try to break things up. Took one back at two years. He was still a beast, found that out the hard way (had both testicles) and obvious why the man and woman needed him to depart. Unstoppable drive, desire and determination. Retrieval instinct was over the top. Stick, ball, bricks, he didn’t care. If I recall, every hip that was checked was good. I should have bred to this line every chance I had. .... | 4.7 years ago |
| German Shepherd Dog | Gento von Haus Larwin KNPV PH1,IPO1 | I met Gento when Vinnie Marjonowick from Crown Point owned him. I really liked the old man and despite his age was hard as rock, full of drive and still had a crushing grip on the suit. I last saw worked him after Matt Lowe bought him. I was there with a friend breeding his female to Gento. Even older, but still full of life. I was around several of his progeny and raised a pup from him and a DDR female that I was hoping to one day take to the streets and police with, He ended up coming back from SV with Medium HD. I didn’t want to take a chance and sold him to another trainer. He ended up policing anyway for many years without any problems. This was mainly interdiction on the interstates, The dogs I were around from Gento could be a little sharp, tons of ball drive, all were hard dogs who you never worried about hurting their feelings. This was males and females alike. Loaded with drive. I saw quite a few of his progeny at the police dog seminars. All represented Gento well. .... | 4.7 years ago |
| German Shepherd Dog | V Rex vom Haus Iris SCHH3 FH PSH3 | I met Rex on a trip to Illinois. I went up with a friend who was breeding his female to him and was only able to spend a few hours there. I did not do any bitework, but enjoyed his dominate and aloof attitude that he carried wherever he went. His eyes were black as coal and he had that stare that just looked right through you. It was winter with snow on the ground. He looked like a bear with his big head and masculine structure. I already owned a female out of Rex and the person I went up with was influenced a lot by her overall character and expression. My female was a little sharp, showed very little defense until she was mature. Better than average prey. The person who was there breeding his female was very happy with the litter, which was quite big if I recall. Several of his offspring went into law enforcement. .... | 4.7 years ago |

I was around several other of her offspring, all which were well suited for any working environment. Anja was a little sharp with good confidence. One of only a few females to ever receive the comments of being 'strongly pronounced' in her fighting instincts on her breed survey. As soon as she got out of her kennel she ran over and greeted me by tagging my leg with a nice bruise. I remember she carried sticks around. Had a very thick coat which was good for the conditions he was living in. I would work him for the owner when I would stop and visit. | German Shepherd Dog | SG Addi von den Tonteichen SCHH3 FH1 | This was a good size, powerful dog with big head and muscular build. I never saw him outside his own yard, none the less, carried himself with great confidence. I would work this dog on suit and sleeve when visiting his owner. Clear in the head, stable, good drive and a high desire to please. Quick learner and enjoyed police work. Loved to track the criminal. Injured in the line of duty and retired from police service. | German Shepherd Dog | Andor vom Hause Veronese Police Dog | I should have wrote "worked with this dog" instead of used. I policed with him from 2005-2008. Solid as a rock. Imported from Germany. Had a Schutzhund 2 when he went to work for my department. Converted to street work easily. Excellent nose, tracking down around 150 criminals Good, hard biter on the suit or the suspect. On a real bite he would often tuck his front feet under his chest and wag his tail. Perfect nerves. Andor slept with my youngest daughter every night after work. Good nerves, higher drive female, very athletic. Could be a little stubborn at times. Tracking Goddess. Several times located the criminal after a few miles of tracking. | German Shepherd Dog | Aryn Sumausky Xerak Police Dog | I policed with Aryn for a short time, but had tested him for my department and helped his original handler train him for patrol and narcotics detection. He was tall at 26 inches, slight narrow build, overall well put together. He had good drive, with sound nerves. He enjoyed police work, especially bitework. While with another handler he took a bullet in his chest while apprehending a suspect who had just committed a home invasion, murdering the father and son who were living there. The handler and backup officer returned fire, killing the suspect. Aryn recoverd from his injuries but was unable to return to police work. I would enter her if I could remember the mother's name. Oversized, tall female with narrow chest. Good drives, sociable and approachable. One of the top 5 tracking dogs I ever trained.
