We recently took in  a really nice and very large American Bulldog "puppy" who is now 9 months old and a slim / trim 91 pounds.  We sent in his registration, changed his name, and got a 6 generation pedigree.

Is there something in his pedigree papers telling us which type of American Bulldog we have?

Also, we have found his grandparents and older ancestors in this database but not his parents.  Should we be adding them from our pedigree paper info?

Here is "Bodacious Mac Dschaak" :)

I found where to "register dogs" and added all the missing dogs I could.  :)

Post his pedigree when you have it filled in and i can take a look and see what lines or kennels he is from.

Nice looking dog you got there.

I appreciate the offer to help :)  This link should get you to his pedigree.

His pedigree is mainly bully type dogs with some old Standard stuff back there.

He looks like he would probably he more likely to fit in the Standard ring...just going by his head-type.  It would depend on how his bite looks (undershot?  how much?)

The only dog in the ped that I have had my hands on is Blizzard.  He's a super nice male that belongs to good friends of ours.  He was here for about 18 mos when he was younger.  My husband put the Sch1 and BST on him.  Couldn't ask for a better temperament, and he loved to work.  I bred to him 2xs...currently working one of his granddaughters.

Midgie is dead right pretty bully with a bit of West Coast Hybrid from the Boyd's line. If you were ever to breed this dog he needs to be tested for NCL, an nervous system diease that slowly destroys the dog nerves. It's from the Byod's dogs (Boyd's discovered their dogs had it and started the testing for this condition) I don't know a lot about the rest of his ped as i'm not a bully follower.

Mac does have an underbite. As for how much, I'd say the space between the back of his bottom teeth and the front of his top teeth is a little more than 1/16". (less than 1/8")

From what I'm reading online, NCL is an awful condition but testing for it isn't a big expense.  We'll probably have him tested before very long.  Having rather quickly lost our last bully to cancer, I'd like to know if there is bad news on the horizon.

Mac has that wonderful temperment you describe in Blizzard.  He's been very calm, at least until I turned on the irrigation today.  LOL   I didn't think he'd ever stop going after them.

Here is the bulldog we lost (on left) playing with my working dog (she watches my back like a professional bodyguard when we're working around cougars).  Bluto was picked up by a dog-catcher and no one claimed him.  They really missed out on a faithful dog.

Wait, what!!  What the heck is the dog on the left? Looks like a aussie cattle dog crossed with a bulldog. The dog on the right is a nice looking bulldog.

Oo

The dog on the left (Bluto) was on Petfinder as an American Bulldog / Blue Heeler mix.  We know that's  a guess but his behavior was 100% bulldog and he was built like a tank. Massive head and would bite a ham bone in half on the first bite.

The dog on the right (Brandy) is slim, muscular, and her head is about the same size as her neck.  ;)  If there is any bully breed in her, it's a few generations back.

My girlfriend 'has a thing' for odd looking dogs but the odd looking Bluto gave us both a love for bulldogs.  However, one more odd looking one found us 2 months ago.  Scrappy is Mac's best buddy and I'm amazed at how rough the fearless little guy plays.
