feeding kirkland right now and my 2 hearding dogs do great on it.  my apbt has loose stools.  coat and weight and all that good stuff are fine.  does not seem like it is all getting digested.  also will eat his own stool on occasion.  send me a pm and will be greatly appreciated.

thank you pet transporter marie,  merrick, wellness and innova are all great foods and big price tags to go with it.  i never thought about grain free.  the kirkland is corn free and just checked the bag and says "contains multigrains and vegetables"  i have absolutely no skin or coat problems.  i was just looking for the most bang for the buck so to speak.  having a hard time spending 50 for a 30 or 20 lb bag of innova.

You can always mix the Innova EVO with the Kirkland -- sometimes Grain ( rice.... and corns) make dogs become PLUMP
( fat.....)
Glad you have no skin and coat troubles!!!

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THE BEST FOOD OUT THERE FOR THIS BREED OF DOG WOULD BE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING THREE:
DIAMOND PUPPY FOOD (in the purple bag)
PRIDE HUNTERS EDGE (in the green bag)
ENHANCE (in the pink bag)
I HAVE FED THESE TO MY DOGS AND THEY LOVE IT NOT TO MENTION IT KEEPS THEIR COATS LOOKING GREAT AND THEY HAVE NO DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS WITH ANY OF THEM.

If you must feed dog chow, the feed something grain free, I used to feed Taste of the Wild. It was available at the local Tractor Supply and alot cheaper than most 'good' foods.  But if time allows, then feed raw. There is NO better diet than a biologicalle appropriate one for a dog.

I use the Petsmart Brand Authority and so far it has been great. No issues with coat or stools. Dogs eat it up and they offer Lamb which is really nice. Cost wise it's very good.

we have used kirkland for a long time(15+ yrs) and had great luck with it as a kennel feed. the last few yrs i have seen a huge difference in my dogs coats & stools. many times they would turn their noses up to it.

we have been using raw for them all now and excellant results. the last month we have had to stay at a motel. (house was damaged in a storm). hard to do the raw so i picked up some kirkland. the stools are horrible, coats have gone dull. back to raw!

something u can use for loose stools is canned pumkin. the plain type with out spices.

Feed RAW chicken leg qtrs.(bone in) soft boiled eggs, whole grain brown rice, plain yogurt, 1 vitamin tablet, and a tbs.of lard for fat. This is better than ANY dog food on the market.

My dogs range from 30-55 lbs.

There's an easy amount for each dogs meal, I feed 2 times a day, morn. & eve.
cut leg qtrs in half (feed 1/2 in the am & 1/2 in the pm)
Add
1-2 cups brown rice
1 soft boiled egg a day
1 tbs, plain yogurt
1 tbs. lard
1 vitamin tablet a day
*You can also fluxuate feeding chicken livers or organ meat also for variety.
Some say that raw chicken bones will puncture a dog intestines, but this is NOT true, COOKED bones will splinter because they're brittle. Even if you add some quality kibble to this, the natural diet is the way to go. Once your on this diet, if you see the dog is gaining too much weight, cut back on the portions a little, if they're too lean, add to the portions.
Here's a link to a very prestigious German Shephard breeder and what he recommends:
