I make lots of stuff for the holidays.  This year I found a recipe for pumpkin bread pudding that my family really likes.  I serve it with  whiskey hard sauce.  The recipe is at http://southernfood.about.com/od/breadpuddingrecipes/r/bl110406b.htm

devilled eggs.

18 large eggs , hardboiled and shelled

4 tbsp mayo (fattening, but it IS thanksgiving)

1 tbsp dijon mustard

1 tbsp finely chopped green onions

1 tbsp finely chopped cilantro

mix and mash the yolks and other ingredients, (if a bit dry, add more mayo or mustard to taste), add salt and pepper and add to halved eggs. sprinkle with paprika. if any of the whites get torn when cutting in half, just add to the other ingredients and mash.

i think it's illegal to worry about calories on thanksgiving

Ohh this thread sounds good ..

Hillbilly Pineapple Casserole

One fresh Pineapple

1/2 cup sugar + 1/4 brown sugar or (3/4 sugar + 1 tablespoon maple syrup)

One stick Butter (room temp)

3 brown Eggs

Marshmallows (small) or you can cut in half large (save a handfull for topping too)

1/4 loaf homeade Bread

Cut the pineapple into chunks on a lipped cutting board. Put into blender with juice from cutting board, blend till fine. Add the sugars, blend again for a bit. In a large mixing bowl cream together eggs and butter add about 3-4-5 (lol) handfulls small marshmallows, mix well. Slice the bread and cut into cubes, place on a flat oven tray, sprinkle with some cinnamon (optional) and toast. I like to toast well .. but it's up to you. Combine the pineapple mixture with the cream mixture and hand mix. Then add the toasted bread and mix. Save a handful of cubes for topping. The trick is to keep the bread cubes toasted and put in oven quick. So maybe you should get the casserole pan ready first. What ever you prefer.

Ok, butter a large casserole dish lightly, add the pineapple mix, even it out nice, add the remaining cubes and a handfull of marshmallows as topping. Bake in woodstove for about 1/2 hour. Let cool down abit before you cut and serve. I like to add a sprinkle of pumpkin spice across the top too. Leftover's are the best.

I love this stuff.  Just thought I'd share. :o)~

missbeeb, in the U.K. we used to call them broad beans - though the lima variety might be a tad smaller....

Bake in woodstove for about 1/2 hour   ?????  I had the wood stove hauled away one day when I broke a nail trying to program it to "timed bake".Never could figure that part out on that old beast.

I know a lady who cooks with the most beautiful wood stove,  it has to be an art.     The secret she say's is in the wood.

And you never leave the kitchen.....LOL.

My wife cooks and watchs TV amoung other thing's, she calls it multi-tasking.

It's good to have a loud timer.
