Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. They are much appreciated!

I have an update from Julie. They did amputate Andrew's leg. His other leg is broken, too, and in a cast, and he has a broken thumb. He's still in the recovery section of the O.R. They will move him to ICU when he's ready, and hopefully, if all goes well after a day there, he can go to a regular ward.

Considering he was thrown from the vehicle, I guess he's lucky to be alive.

The driver has been released from hospital already. He suffered cuts and bruises. I'm guessing he was wearing his seatbelt, and Andrew was not.

Let's all make sure we buckle up, and teach our kids to buckle up! It's the law here in Ontario, but not everyone does it.

what a horrible thing to have happen.  i hope andrew's recovery goes smoothly and he isn't too terribly traumatized by losing his leg - wow so young just starting to find his freedom and he gets slammed with losing a leg and having to learn to be mobile all over again but from the sound of it he's lucky to be alive.  my heart goes out to him and his mother.

What a horrible thing to happen to a 20 year old. May he have the strengh to arrange with his new life situation.

Since I believe that prayers can travel a long way, here are mine, on their way over the pond.

All the best to Andrew & his family & friends.

My thoughts and Prayers for his recovery and his family to have peace and to know how to handle this situation.

My son had a lead 1/4 "

PLATE door fall on him  FROM 30 FOOT ABOVE HIM, LIKE A GUILOTINE..,when he was just 18 yrs old in TEXAS CITY , Texas and he has spent the last 18 years in pain and now wants his left foot cut off.  it amputated part of it and crushed it..

Been fighting the years of operations and the system and it has effected him emotionally and physically now..He wishes now he had his amputated completely those long years ago, so your family will maybe relate this and he can learn a new life with a chance at least to not be in pain from a leg that would have only caused him severe pain..This way he begins with new limb that is whole even though it will be a prostesis.

HAVE THEM GET HIM COUNSELING  , VERY IMPORTATNT.   WORKMANS COMP WOULD NOT PAY FOR COUNSELING AND IT HAS SCARRED MY SON BECAUSE OF THAT.
