Bloat is NOT related to exercise or water intake.
Elevated food and water bowls increase the chances of bloat.
There is a strong co-relation between feeding dry kibble and bloat. Dogs fed meat and bone meal and table scraps have a much lower incidence. They don't mention raw feeding, but I imagine that would reduce the incidence, too. (Gee, me saying something positive about raw feeding...will wonders never cease!)
There is a strong co-relation between stress and bloat. Many dogs bloat after a long car ride, or being boarded. Remember what happened to Marley?
On a personal note, I've also heard of dogs bloating after playing in water, or playing with the stream from a hose. I imagine the weight of water in their stomach would cause the stomach to twist, and cause bloat.

The comments in the video explain why it was taped~
This video shows a dog in the middle to late middle stages of bloat. This dog, Roscoe, was saved. He had just arrived in a new home. The weather was warm but not hot, actually quite pleasant as this video was being filmed. Neither the person who brought the dog to this foster home nor the foster home had ever seen bloat and had no idea of what they were seeing. As soon as they realized something was wrong, he was rushed to the emergency vet.
On another forum, a breeder warned about 4Health kibble and how it expands...what you feed may make a big difference . She said the 4health expanded 4 times the size... she lost 2 dogs to bloat after switching them from TOTW or RCGS and then connected the kibble to the bloat.

Many years ago had my show Irish setter bloat at home my boss (vet)sent me home with mylanta/and a tube said she will likely do it again sure did but I was able to catch it on time and tubed her,she lived to 10 1/2 but bloat did'nt take her. Other signs are paceing, could vomit white foam, but gas is the main reason.

My 10 year old bloated last year. I didn't realize what was happening at first. Hers was similar to the Akita's in the video. I figured out something was wrong and got her to the vet very quickly. She had surgery and survived. Since then I had 4 instances with my 8 year old gsd. She would bloat but not flip. Last month during one of these episodes I had the vet go in and do an emergency tack. The stress of watching her go thru this and wondering if this will be the time it would flip was brutal. Falon's symptoms also included licking carpet, the air and inhaling anything, fur, fabric etc.
A friends dog bloated after playing in a baby pool after gulping water on a hot day. Another friends dog bloated after catching snow balls so I do think water intake has something to do with it.
