I saw this on my Facebook today. I thought it was an interesting video and wanted to share..

Why in God's name would you spend that time videotaping a dog that was suffering from bloat, rather than getting him in the car and to the vet's office? I know it's not your video.

I was thinking the same thing..;(
Did the video say they were video taping while they were awaiting someone's arrival?,,I was confused about that myself...

LF,
The main reason this video impacted me was because I had never seen bloat either. Well, I thought I hadn't..:(
My Great Dane, bless her heart, did exhibit similar symptoms on many occasions and until now I never recognized it as bloat (abdomen was not distended like the dog in the video)..She lived a long and healthy 12 1/2 years in spite of my ignorance...Sigh...

It's not good what happened to the dog, but it is good that it's on video for everyone to see. I personally have never seen a dog experiencing bloat.... So now I know what to look for in case it does happen one day.

Well I had the unpleasant experience firsthand-except my shepherd was also SCREAMING in agony-the only time I took was to try to reach my regular vet-it was a holiday and about 10pm I didn't give him much time to respond before I was on the phone getting directions to the University Missouri teaching hospital and telling them what I was bringing in-I drove 90 the whole 20 miles-I'm thankful I was home and that I reconigized what was happening-as he bloated with torsion-fortunately we won that battle with no ill effects. It led me into a lot of research-we now feed three times a day-limit exercise/water before & after feeding and I constantly observe all six dogs for any odd behaviors of the slightest-the dog never had a reoccurance, he was gasoplexitied during the surgery-that happen at 4 years of age and he is 12.5, but as such he is watched even closer. Two of my others have also has gastropleies as precautions-certainly not an experience I ever want to relive!

And just so you all know: all dogs do NOT swell; some just torsion and drop dead as it affects their heart. Really a sad disease.

OMG instead of taking the poor dog to vet this guy had the time to make a video while the poor animal is suffering, a few months back my dogs had a bloat and within minute I rushed her to the vet which saved her life and this asshole waited
so long.I wish I could kick his ass and smash his vidoe in his face.I am so angry when i see this video.
