Enough is enough! When are people going to realize that a gsd is NOT a plastic object to only promote themselves!!!! Hmm critigue...How about I Critique you instaed. There is no need for this dog to have passed through so many hands in such a young life.It just sickens me that so many do from what I have been learning.Same with horses...

Ditto, Rainhaus. That will never happen as long as there is a buck to be made. For many it'a all about money. If the breeders of these passed-around dogs can't step up to the plate and take them back, then the reality is they are breeding too damned many dogs. Can't feed em, don't breed em.

A typical gangly legged two year old, who has plenty of time to mature and fill out. He looks bored witless to me!

ITS A DOG, A LIVING BREATHING ANIMAL, NOT A COMMODITY, OR A TOOL FOR THE OWNERS EGO TRIP!

This is such a sad situation -- a healthy sweet pet being passed around like a bag of M & M s.  The owner should realize how fortunate she is . . . . I feel so sorry for someone who gives away the love that a GSD brings to their life.

Yes, it is very sad, Radarsmom.

And how is Radar doing these days?  I hope he's continuing to improve.

by radarsmom on 07 July 2008 - 16:07

Blitzen, you are so kind to ask.  Radar is recovering well from the surgery, but on reexamination, the neurologist found abnormalities in the spinal cord -- if this was an older dog, the vet said he would call this as a case of DM.  But given his age it is probably a congentital malformation.  Radar is a happy boy, full of energy, but he "runs out of gas" pretty quickly and it's really frustrating for him.  He has severe dysplasia in both hips (we discovered the cauda equina in a pre op workup for hip replacement, which is now "on hold") but we are still sorting out all of his issues in an effort to decide what's in his best interests. The poor baby is only 18 months one -- it is hard to know what to do in this case, our objective is quality of life so we are inclined to hold off on replacing the hips.  This is such a sweet boy, and such a blessing to us, and NO ONE has enough money to buy him from us as far as my husband and I are concerned!  The poster should count HER blessings and treasure her dog! Please continue to keep Radar in your prayers.

I know you will always do the best for your beloved Radar. He's a special dog to go through so much and still retain his sweet temperament. I know exactly what you're going through. It's a roller coaster ride, up one day, down into the depths of hell the next.  As long as he's happy, that's all that matters.

Thank you.  YES, he is a VERY special dog.
